I have to opportunity to pick up a ready to go, working, 2017 gt350 engine block. I won't say how much but I'll say as close to free as you can get lol

Block has zero issues. What are the strengths/weaknesses to these blocks? I plan on using it with stock coyote gen 2 crank, stock Mahle 5.2l forged pistons, and gen 2 rods. This is going to topped with a set of brand new boss 302 cnc'd heads, and a Kong ported predator blower. Looking to be around 700-800hp.

This is going in my 94 cobra Griggs car. Car is not a full time track car but I'd like to take it out there every now and then.

Will these blocks handle power thrown at them? Tell me everything you can lol I've been searching the interwebs but so far the info is for newer gt350's.

Thanks

Not entirely sure how to. Looks normal on my end. The main point to my post is it worth buying a good 2017 voodoo block for less than $500 to build.

Going to be built with boss 302 heads, l&m intake cams, and a ported predator blower. Are these blocks better or stronger than a regular coyote block?

Sure, but does it matter if you're only making 700-800hp?

I'd also call a shop to see what they want to clean that block up and assemble it (or what your parts total is going to be if you do it yourself. Might be cheaper just to buy an aluminiator or even a gen3 shortblock

I just thought that buying it at a low cost plus adding the cost of a brand new stock coyote crank shaft ($300), stock gen 2 rods( $180 ea), stock 5.2 predator pistons would build me a very capable and reliable 1000hp plus shortblock for less than the price of an alluminator.

That's my idea atleast.

Nothing is cheap with the coyote platform, I'd talk to an engine builder or machine shop before you do anything. FWIW I have close to 10 wrapped up in mine, gen 3 sb, heads, cams, all the other miscellaneous parts you need

The person I "know best" in "the forum sense" is this guy:

You might want to reach out to him and ask him what he thinks. He's on M6G and TMO, so if you're a member of either, it's easy.

He's converted his 2017 GT350 to a full-race car, and he's still running the original block. It's been rebuilt at least twice from the ground-up since he started. He's running a cross-plane crank now and while it's not running FI, he's got a wealth of information about which parts fit and work on that block. As far as I know, the Voodoo block is not "just another Coyote block" so you can't just throw Coyote parts at it and expect them to work.

It's too bad you didn't find a 2019/20 Voodoo block. It's the GT500 block and it's built for pressurized service.

Gen3 shortblock is more than enough, or you can go gen4 or darkhorse shortblock

Thank you! I made an account and I'm going you reach out. I appreciate it
