Not really apples to apples, but I had death wobble really bad on my old lifted 2002 F250, on 37s. I literally replaced everything from the steering box to the hubs and it never went away. Ultimately I ended up "covering it up" with a dual steering stabilizer kit and it never happened again.

Got one on order thru PMF Suspension

Worn track bar bushings is the most common culprit from my experience, and makes sense when you think about it because it keeps the axles centered. The also have been prone to oblong the holes once they start to wear. I myself put a Thuren on mine.

Caster changes can help out a lot too as previously mentioned, I changed mine to Thuren’s recommendation when I put mine on.

Had a brand new 1989 f250 first experience. Putting on the brakes to an off ramp on the capital beltway. I thought the front end was coming off.

Way to go Ford. This has been going on for well over a decade now.

In fact, all three of these have been known for over a decade:

Failed front hubs

Failed throttle body.

Death wobble.

Drrrrrrrrr......

2017 CCSB 350 6.7, did not have it, but in the last couple months, could feel some modest oscillation on a couple notable bridge expansion joints (it would stop, after the bump, not continue). Truck just hit 50k miles. I traded it in last week for a 21 (not because of this).

Is there any truth to diesels having the issue more than the 6.2/7.3/gasser engines?

Nope, talked to a friend who had a gasser. Only 83,000 miles. He’s had death wobble several times. Just talked to him a couple weeks ago about it.

I ordered new drag link ends from Ford and they have been revised. The new ones are serviceable and the ones currently on my truck are not. This is the only points I could find any real play, which wasn’t much on my front end.

I have also ordered a PMF Suspension adjustable track bar that is built ridiculously stout along with the dual stabilizer kit from PMF.

I hope this fixes it.

The worst death wobble I’ve experienced was in a 08 6.2 250. Also had it happen to my 12 450 6.8L.

My friend is currently fighting the DW in his 13 250 with a 6.7 diesel. It’s definitely not a fun easy going feeling.

Driving into work today, my 2019 F-250 6.2 4wd company truck hit a nice sizable pothole and it wanted to wobble. I could feel it in the steering wheel that it wanted to start the DW but it recovered itself. That truck only has 10k miles.

10k miles? This is the notorious bump steer that I have been told is “normal”.

Sure do wish Ford would make this right.

Take it to a dealer for the fix.

during the 80s I was doing wheel alignment's on trucks only

death wobble has been around for years,,

Monroe SE1943 I think was a dual stabilizer kit we used to help

but for me damn ford's ,,

track bar was the cause on a lot ..

not the bushings stupid ford ..

3/8 bolt in a 1/2 in sleeve
doesn't hold jack

use a long shoulder bolt,,

upper shock rubbers,, these believe it or not, major cause of dw,

axle joints ,,these were always missed,,

steering shafts from box to steering wheel,, any frozen u joint on this also

a true death wobble ,you must slam on brakes to stop

Yup, that’s what I’ve had to do twice. I’m hoping the pmf track bar helps to prolong this being an issue down the road.

Anyone know how much up/down play is allowable in the drag link ends? I would like to check them with a dial indicator to see what they are and compare to whatever Ford spec is. I’ve heard there should be some up and down movement, but a number would be nice to go off of.
