How are the street manners without the balance shaft?

I'd have the same question. I had a 2.3(probably a completely different engine) in my fusion with the BSD and the only time you noticed it was at idle, but the passenger seat shook pretty bad.

Same question: how is the idle, low RPM drivability.

As long as you have not changed out your motor mounts to a solid mount you should be fine and notice little to no real difference, our stock mounts are air/vacuum assisted I believe, they are more forgiving of vibrations from the engine.
