The car is in one piece again. My first automatic transmission rebuild is a success. I was amazed how much better it shifts after my rebuild compared to Ford's factory build. I'm sure it's due to better clutch packs. Anyone who can install this turbo kit can rebuild their transmission. It's not that big of a deal, just follow my advice above.

1000hp in 5th??? i heard 5th has a lot less clutches.

The upgrade installed more clutches and steels in the "E" clutch, or overdrive clutch. 6 clutches increased to 8. Steels are thinner, but with better metal. The overdrive clutches are smaller (less diameter) than the other clutches, so there is less surface area for clamping force.

Not saying it will handle the abuse in 5th gear though, just know that it was improved with this upgrade.

I just wonder cause I have the same thing done to my Trans, and was thinking about doing one of the half mile events but as my tune sits now, it will not shift into 5th @ wot, per. Tuners advice.

You may not need 5th gear for the 1/2 mile event, assuming you still have 3.15 gears and at least a 27.4" tall tire. Nitto NT05R 305/35/19 height is 27.4"

The shift point of my engine is 7200, since it's stock. Those with built engines can spin it higher for more mph with the same gear and tire height (about .91 mph for every 100 rpm of increase)

With a 26" tire, the mph of 4th gear dropped to 155. That's why mine shifted into 5th gear when racing to 180. I was using ET Street Radials 275/50/15 instead of my Nitto NT05R 305/35/19.

In the 1/2 mile event, you'd be in the 155-175 mph range estimated depending on mods and power.

1000ish so I was hoping for 170's. I didn't know 4th would go 170, thanks

Check my post above again, I made a gear ratio error on 4th gear. It's 1.14:1 not 1:1

Speeds decreased per rpm and gear ratio.

With a 28" tire, revving to 7800, you can achieve 180.94 mph. That's 177 mph with a 27.4" tire.

Here is the difference between a friction removed from a clutch pack that takes a beating in this car, and a clutch pack that doesn't. *Both were removed from my transmission*

One of these looks brand new, despite having almost 13K miles of use.

Ran the same Corvette again, this time....not up to 180. He let out around 150ish. Previously, he had belt slip issues. Now his Magnuson hits quick and hard with the 8 rib pulley setup. Jumped out on me like nobodies business. My car doesn't build boost that fast and weighs more. Win to my friend, he earned it.

Armageddon TT 5.0 @ 9.5 PSI, stock engine, Cat delete Lethal H pipe, built 6R80 auto w/ Circle D converter, DSS Carbon Fiber Driveshaft, QTP oval exhaust cutouts, stock 3.15 gears

C6 LS2 6.0 Corvette, Blower Cam, Magnuson MP112 supercharger @ 11.5 PSI, 100 shot nitrous, LT headers with X pipe, 6 speed manual, clutch upgrade

His car had flames out the back when he let out of it.

Rebuilt transmission works flawless. No more hitting the rev limiter on shifts. Love it!

New personal best in the 1/8th mile. Only changes were the addition of exhaust cutouts and 1.5 PSI boost increase. Previous best was 6.7x @ 107.xx

60' times did not change, since the 2B converter is too tight to build boost off the line. You can feel the boost kick in hard about 60' out.

The funny thing is, the car took second place in the regional Mustang Club of America show (Modified 05-15 class) just the day before. From car show to race track, because street car.

Terrible pic, but promoting the forums.

Put a transbrake on it already and stop teasing us. Let's see some 1.4 short times :)

Says the guy now running 8's. HEHE!

How is that engine holding together at 14 PSI? Truly amazing!

I believe you have the Circle D 4B, MSD 2 Step, 2 relay transbrake, launching @ 3300 rpm. Stock 3.15 gears? Did you ever build your auto?

Correct on the mods-trans has never been opened. Motor and trans are 100% factory stock aside from motor oil, spark plugs, and harmonic dampener.

Did you have to disable trouble codes in the tune to use the 2 relay transbrake?

No sir, not at all. The only thing you have to do on the 2014 is increase the inferred movement rpm as you would do if you installed an aftermarket stall converter. Otherwise, nothing else needs to be done for the 2 relay brake other than hang on to the steering wheel :)
