Today we swapped out the valve springs in one of my heads, will do the other one tomorrow hopefully. This is a budget build 100% so I went with the Boss 302 aka Gen 2 springs. These are really cheap and offer a few pounds more seat pressure vs the stockers. It's a fairly simple task but it takes awhile and you need patience. You are able to do 2 valves at a time so that helps it go a little faster. IMG_20210413_183734052 by Leonard Riddick, on Flickr We placed a rag under the valves to keep them from falling. Once the spring is compressed you are able to remove the retainer clips that latch onto the valve. Small flat tip screw driver and a magnet come in handy. Here is a pic of the clips. These are kinda tricky to get back into place but the more you do the easier it gets. The way Ford designed these its nearly impossible to install the spring, retainer, or retainer clip wrong..... they will only go on one way. Still shooting for next weekend to have it running.
