Wish the timing was right for me to purchase. Compared to others for sale right now this is a steal!

How much did the dealer offer you on trade? Remember, you typically get a tax credit on trade in that can equate to almost $3k or so for most people in Texas.

The reason I ask is because it may be cheaper for you to part the car out (sell parts + tax savings) rather than taking $38k, and then you're not sitting on a car for a long time. When I was trying to sell mine, it took about 45 days to get a serious offer that I would consider... just couldn't part ways.

When I went to look at GT500's for a few days, the local Ford dealer offered me $38k on trade, as long as I removed any modifications (though mine were covered at the time by the local Ford dealer). At the time I was at around 11k mileage.

Nadaguides says $34,500 clean trade with your mileage for a 2012 -- I'm guessing a Ford dealer would get close considering it's a rare color (though black book can differ heavily from nadaguides -- i stay away from kbb). Figure another 6.25% tax credit which is $2,156.25 against your tax bill on your 2015. That equates to $36,656... and you can still part your car out, which you'll get more than $2,000 for.

So what trade in value would you get direct from dealer if you parted it out and put it back to stock?

You wouldn't get any tax savings if someone bought the car through your dealer -- and then that person buying would (likely) have to pay sales tax -- making the deal quite a bit worse for them.

$38,500 with your modifications is too low -- if you're trying to get rid of it just part it out and trade it in -- you'll end up with MORE cash :)
