Last Friday, I finally got to run a friends 2016 Chevy SS sedan (automatic). It went more in my favor than expected as I thought he would catch me at the end. He's all stock minus the bronze 19" TSW Nurburgring wheels running 93 octane (stock tune) and I have the LMS 93+X tune, 3-bar, 170 thermostat and 20" Niche Targa M129 wheels. We both were rocking the kids car seats, spare tire, etc and I weighed 4598lbs with driver (190lbs) and he weighed 4303lbs with driver (260lbs).

Friend made it to get one good run of us on video:
Against a drag Chevelle (#70 in the slip above). I left traction control on and had an improper word choice...

Ecoboost turbos runs out of steam up top but up to 100mph they move out. Did 12.6 with an intercooler and 100 octane on my fusion sport. Are you on the stock intercooler? If so that will push you into the 12s for sure.

The SS was only trapping 103-104? That’s slow for them.

Am I missing something? High DA?

My buddy ran 12.9 in his MKS with tune only. AWD is a beautiful thing. They are nice cars.
I'm sure I could have hit 12's if I tried again after letting it sit and launching harder, but I had an hour drive home and 13.1 is my new PB, so I was happy!

I'm still on the stock intercooler that's probably full of oil and have been reading great reviews of Gearheads new intercooler for this platform. I'd love to grab one and catted downpipes, but I keep talking myself out of it. I ran the tank down enough that I was going to put a little 100 or 110 in because my tune would prefer that, but it was leaded fuel and I didn't want to risk it. Someday!

He tried, but that's all he could pull. I think he was launching too soft, but he never could get it going faster. DA was around 1200-1500 and a light headwind, but I still expected him to run me down after the 1/8. Waiting on him to upload some runs...

Just a FYI my Chevy SS auto has never trapped lower than 107 all stock
My best stock time is 12.92 at 109 in limited runs... in great air it’s a 12.80 car imo all stock.
This....

They should be running 107+ in the 1/4. I understand the bad 60’, but still should be running higher mph.

Beautiful and love the wheels!

I have no doubt and we both were expecting him to trap at least 106+ mph. He's no stranger to the dragstrip, but it's possible he was letting off early after I crossed the traps because there was no point by then. Until he uploads a video, I can only assume.

Even though I walked away with the win, I would have preferred driving home in the SS. Stock dual mode exhaust on that thing sounds awesome! Going to bug him some more to get a video or two my way since he said he was uploading them two days ago.

Size comparison.

Nice run in your Lincoln. The SS is a nice car, as is the Impala. Black Lincolns are the bomb!
