I recently put up a post about screwy fuel pump and injector duty cycles. Per Van's suggestion, I pulled my fuel pump hat to check the prefilter. Here's what I found. Anybody know if a 2011 hat/pump setup will work in my 2007? I may be able to pick one up cheap, but need to verify that it will work.

It's a 2007 that I bought a year ago with < 400 miles on it. Apparently the prior owner didn't take care of it. Driver's side fuel tank is covered in rust, too. It's a wonder the TVS and 18lbs of boost didn't kill my engine.

Score 1 for logging fuel pump duty cycles! It's the only way I'd have caught this.

Are tanks any different from regular Mustangs to the GT500? That might make it a ton easier to find if they're the same.

On fordparts.com it looks like the fuel tank is the same part # for the GT500 as it is for the GT and even a V6 Mustang. You could prob find one at a local junkyard

I think I have a guy who has a good tank for me - still looking for a hat and pumps that will work, since the 2011 setup I was looking at won't. Can anybody help?

So much for low mileage cars. Sorry for the woes, but at least you found the problem. That looks nasty.

It is - but it could have turned out so much worse. I'm lucky to have had FP duty cycle on the Interceptor when this reared its head.

And this is what your tank will look like after not being driven for 4 years:

Just curious, why won't a 2011 set work? Is the BAP feature that 2011's have actually built into the pumps themselves?
Also, are you pulling your injectors to have them cleaned out as well as maybe the fuel lines? Those pics are nasty

I'm not sure, but everyone is saying the wiring is different on the 2011's. I have new 72's on the way, so no worries there, either.

Well, less than 48 hours after discovering my cruddy fuel system, I've already got some good replacement parts. Special thanks to thgt500 for giving me a killer deal on a fuel hat/pumps and shipping them overnight! I found a pristine gas tank locally from PSI Performance, and my 72lb injectors just arrived from Van.
