Ok so far 2 dynos- both above the claimed horsepower Ford is claiming. I think this car will be in the 425+ hp range judging by both dyno's. thoughs?

Well to get a good estimate they need to do a dyno in 5th gear where the ratio is 1:1 instead of 1.32:1 in 4th. 4th will read lower than what 5th will read. But if it picks up the same gains from 4th to 5th like it did from 3rd to 4th then it will be approx. 450 at the flywheel. This car is very underrated.

While most of you assume the car has 450 hp because this 2 dyno runs, I just assume Ford has improved drivtrain loss and the 412 is pretty dead on. I think gone are the days of 15-20% drivetrain loss. It wouldn't surprise me if the car really did only lose approx 10% of the engine's power when it gets the rear wheels.

that may be more true as I just cant see Ford not wanting to advertise that the car has more power than the camaro, it be like winning the lotto twice and then saying you only need one ticket and throwing the other out jsut because

how could it have 412hp at the flywheel when it is putting 365-378hp to the wheels? that is over 430+ hp at the flywheel.

He's guesstimating a 10% drivetrain loss.... 412hp - 10% = 371whp so it makes sense.

be nice to see what the actual production model does. but this is great news for people trying to pick up an 03/04 cobra. should level off the prices. i think the reason the 03/04's are so sought after is because the 05 and up stangs just dont compare stock muscle wise.

or mod for mod, or maximum power on the stock engine

10% drivetrain loss seems amazing if true, I would have guessed 15%.. if its only 10% thats not bad at all but I dont see how a RWD car could do that.. who knows.

Maybe they are using the Cobra Jet method of HP rating!! Remember that car supposedly has 425hp....!

The question was asked and debated: “How can a 5.4-liter supercharged engine rated at 540 horsepower in the 2010 GT500 be submitted to NHRA rated at 425? The long block is basically the GT500 spec plus a cold air intake and massive Accufab MAF housing and throttle body. Who’s fooling who here? Mr. Calvert’s quote in a New York Times article saying, “he could squeeze 700 (horsepower) out of it “with just a few simple tune-up tricks” added a few flames to the fire.

How do you figure that? 395rwhp with its weight should trap at 110-112mph.

3650 lbs and nearly 400 rwhp should definitely be over 112. I'm not saying that these cars won't hit those traps, as we are only seeing the first couple, but so far the 110-111 mph traps are not backing up such high dyno numbers IMHO.

Either way, time will tell and it's all just speculation until they start showing up in show rooms. The more HP the better:rockon:
