This. I've heard of no #8 failures on a Roadrunner.

Same

and I thought all Coyote #8 failures were solved with the discovery of a factory Ford tuning issue.

Shaun @ AED exposed the problem months ago.

MMR - would you mind addressing this question please? My understanding was the same as theirs.

it was a tuning issue for some, and for others it was compounded with a manufac defect/quality

I think i have heard of a boss with the issue

Yes, the boss has been no different than the GT, the reality is there are FAR less of them out there so you dont here about them, but they suffer from the same cylinder head design and hotter running # 8 ,this is due to the lack of water jacket around the # 8 port/cylinder shown below:
