12/04/2014:

We just purchased a Molten Orange 2010 Raptor with over 30K miles and alot of wear and tear! Previous customer had a Saleen Supercharger installed and hurt the engine after getting a bad tank of gas. So the owner decided to sell it as is and buy a new 2014 6.2L Raptor. We jumped on the deal and decided to pull the engine and replace it with a Ford Racing Built Shortblock, Ford Racing Ported Heads, and some custom grind cams from Comp we are going to design. We will put the Supercharger back on and see what kind of power we can make with it! We are probably going to have to build a complete return style fuel system and fit a set of custom Kooks 5.4L 3V Headers and cat pipes.

We had a 2010 5.4L Raptor we installed a Whipple blower on back when these trucks first came out so we have plenty of back ground. I'll keep everyone posted when we start the build and share some pics and info!

Update, we have the Ford Racing Shortblock on a stand and just fitted the Stock heads back on after they received a Valve Job and new seals. Installed a set of PAC Racing High pressure valve springs and stock retainers. Custom Cams from Comp are supposed to be delivered today overnight night shipping! Should be all together and ready to drop in by the end of Monday. We want to get this sucker running before Christmas. I'll post some pictures of the engine build on Monday!

12/22/2014:

Red Head's new Power Plant!

Ford Racing Forged 5.4L Shortblock
Stock Heads w/ Race Valve Job
PAC Racing High Seat Pressure Valve Springs
Comp NSR Blower Cams
Fully Assembled and Timed by our Engine builder Matt Kennedy
Ford Racing Black Valve Covers to dress it up some!

Should be going into the truck by the end of the day and with any luck running Christmas Eve!

All 6.2L Trucks have been officially put on notice, Buy a Supercharger NOW and make sure you don't fall victim to this unsuspecting Raptor at the next traffic light!

1/08/2015:

Last night we fired up "Project Red-Headed Stepchild" after a short winter hibernation. At first start up everything went perfect, engine is nice and quiet, idle quality is very good with the initial tune up, and the truck got up to temperature and cooled off fine on its own. Now we are going to move it over to another bay to remove some of the brackets and components we wanted powder coated. Besides that we are still waiting on our new coolant reservoir for the Supercharger system. Should be finalized by Monday-Tuesday and Dyno tested next week!

Here are a few spy photos I snapped this morning, let me know what you guys think of the custom blower lid "Raptor" plates we had made!

Here is the final product! We just have to finalize some of the tuning and hope to hit the dyno for power numbers next week!

Unfortunately we haven't had a chance to dyno yet with all the snow and how busy our winter's been. All the Street and Road tuning is finished. We had to take some boost out because as much Torque as the truck makes it just blows the tires off and Wheel hops like a bastard. We have some Deaver Leaf springs to install which should eliminate the wheel hop issue, then we plan to turn it back up and dyno.

What happened to your plan to use ported heads? I'm only asking because I'm at 202k miles on my '05 5.4 3V and I'm debating on a rebuild. No performance problems except the infamous cam phaser noise that isn't really causing any problems that I know of. Just tired of sounding like a diesel at warm idle. Anyway, I was thinking about a new 5.4 short block with ported FRPP heads and maybe cams for a bit more giddy up. I don't see why 350 horsepower isn't a realistic target while still keeping it torquey.

FRPP was out of stock when we were assembling the engine so we just sent the heads to our machine shop for a valve job. Ported heads would be worth it. You can buy 2 new heads for the price of working on your 200K+ stockers. http://www.teamjdm.com/4-6l-5-4l-cnc-ported-3v-cylinder-head-assembled/

Yes they have their own bracket. I don't think I have one of those but I do have some other parts you will need. I spoke to Brett last week and mentioned to call us when he needs anything!
