My car must be super conservative lol I’m only at 668w with a 2.8 kb, 18lbs, E85, full exhaust.

I’ve heard it said E85 will net 75-100w…? Especially with longtubes…I could be way off.

Are you going to bump the boost or timing? I've seen a couple guys make about 50hp just switching to E85 with no other changes. But if you're not going to make those changes I'd stick with pump gas.

FWIW, I'm in the 700's and my injectors are maxed. Granted I have room to bump the fuel pressure up a little to help with that. But something to consider.

I’ll get a smaller pulley and maybe get 2-3 more pounds. Just don’t know if it’s worth going with long tubes and E85 weekend car. Stays in storage for winter 4 months out the year

E85 absolutely.

I don’t think anyone has shown number or performance improvement by going to LTs until you’re pushing 800rwhp or something. Then it’s something like 10-12hp if I recall. Apparently they sound way better

Exactly. ^^^

When I added Bassani mid lengths, I gained like 12hp on 93. I was making 622. Then adding E85 and 2 lbs of boost, over 700. This was all with a stock motor.

E85 is amazing, once you go corn you will not look back. My car is corn full time. I store it 6+ months a year without any issues.

It took me awhile to get on the E85 train and I’m glad I did. I had a 93 tune done also, since the dyno my car has been on E85 only.

Haha that’s funny I was even thinking selling the 2.3 whipple for a 2.9 and skipping the headers

I'll add I had originally planned on mostly being on pump gas and occasionally running E85 when I make runs to Mexico. Now I'm on E85 unless I'm making a 300+ mile drive.

You can clear 700 with the 2.3. It's been done before. But I think it'll put you at the top of what the 2.3 can do. The bright side is with the 2.3 pullied to make that power it'll definitely hit hard down low.

My thoughts on headers is while they don't make big gains, any bit of improvement to flow is a good thing. I dropped about 1psi when I installed my Bassanis. That was with cats too. I've since pullied down to get the boost back where I want it.

The sound and drop in boost is worth it imo
100% agree. Long tubes were one of the last things I did on my old 04 and it was maybe 20 HP max, but it did it a lower boost allowing me to drop down a pulley size which made the 2.3 kick in harder. Sound with the Long Tubes was way better had a noticeable more angry note to it.

A overlooked advantage of going E85 is SAFTEY. It is pretty much impossible to get engine knock when running E85. Also the fuel burns much cooler and tolerates high intake temps much better, very important because our cars tend to suffer from high intake temps.

With longtubes make sure you consider future clutch changes. I had my longtubes and clutch put on a long time ago and have no idea if the transmission and bell housing can be dropped with the long tubes in place. But I'll tell ya, they sound nice and when your power number increases they won't hold you back.

So your saying install new clutch with headers? I’ll have my mechanic do it don’t feel like messing with headers. Anything else i should replace or install? Motor mounts? Head cooling mod? Etc
