Hi guys,
I have a 2.6 KB with full exhaust, 3.25 upper, Metco 4lb lower, LFP idler aux pulley

I always have a problem in belt , before it was slipping after I install LFP ilder, no slipping
now, The problem is the boost was not go more than 18-19lb
It should give me 22+lb

Before I install the idler boost was 20lb exactly, Belt size was 78'
LFP told me that It should be bigger for 1'' after installing the idler so I got Goodyear 79''
finally, I was testing the car with idler and the belt cut in 2nd test at the same time

BTW : I sow that the hood inner layer is tuching the s/c pulley and it eat the layer, you can see the inner side of hood clear, the pulley burend the layer under the hood !!!!!

( 2 problems : boost and belt cut )
What could be the solution for this ?
To go for bigger belt, I will loose more boost !!

Please help guys

Thanks all

The first thing you should do is remove the insulation blanket from the hood. Then you should buy another belt (the same size as the last one), install it and look for any interference between the belt and any other surfaces. Next, check the arrow on your tensioner to ensure it is properly tensioning the belt. With a 3.25 upper and a LFP idler pulley, you shouldn't be experiencing belt slip.

Thank you for your replay
How about heat if I remove blanket ? I mean the heat from the engine to the hood ? Does it hirt the paint ?
Which belt size you mean to put ? the one that LFP suggest it to me ?

Thanks

No...your paint on the underside of the hood will be fine. That's assuming
Ford painted it for you. Many of our cars didn't get the best paint job
under the hood. I would remove that heat blanket as well.

Regarding the cut belt, are you having any issues with the Metco lower
pulley being out of balance? Have you taken a very close look at it
with the car idling?

Personally, I have no experience with a 2.6L KB so I'll have to
defer to KB's website for info:

It looks like the 3.25 upper should make 20psi. That's around
24psi with your 4lb lower.

Do you have long tubes by chance? You're missing around 5lbs
of boost and having headers certainly isn't going to decrease
boost pressure by 5psi...maybe 2psi at the most. Just snooping
around though.

Have you ruled out belt slip yet?
Do you have a current dyno graph to post?
Can you post a few pics of your engine bay, specifically your
pulley setup? A picture is worth a thousand words...

You also didn't answer my question about your Metco lower pulley.
Are you sure that it's properly aligned and that it's not out of balance?

Another question...how do you know you're only making 19psi?
Do you have an autometer gauge? Are you using the stock gauge?
Etc, etc, etc.

For the headers yes I have LT 1 5/8''
Does the LT drop the 2lb of boost ????
If yes, What is the solution at this time ? to put smaller pulley due to LT headers ?

I removed my hood blanket about the second day after I bought the car. That was almost 4 years ago. Still no issues with that mod. As far as the belt goes get the Gates belt. I have had the most luck with their belts. Some may not agree. I in a test done within minutes of each that my factory Eaton made 1 to 2 lbs less boost with the Goodyear belt than the Gates belt.

The solution is to figure out what the problem is...which you don't
seem all that interested in. It seems as if you only want to make
a certain boost pressure number. If you have a problem, you need
to identify it and resolve it. If you want our help, you're going to need
to start answering the questions we ask or we won't be able to assist.
