I’m getting ready to give my car a “kill” tune for the drag strip. I currently run a 2.93/ 2# on e85. My question is will a 2.75”/ 4# combo be good to go on e85? Looking to make 700 or a little over. This is on a gen1 2.3 Whipple

I have full return fuel system, supporting mods, Kooks lt’s and catless x. I currently make about 18# at 2200-2400 above see level. I want to make 22-23# when I’m done.

Just wanted to get some opinions before I drop it off for the work to begin this weekend. I haven’t ordered any parts yet so I have time to change up my combo. Thanks

My guess is 21 give or take.

I've noticed that with increased elevation, you realize less of a boost increase the more you pulley down. Plus you're spinning it pretty good already.

What RPM will you be at?

I’m on 28” ET slicks now with 3:73’s. I will most like step up the gearing later. Shift points no higher than 6500 at the moment.

Blower RPM is a little over 20k. I know alot of guys overspin without issue, just not sure what kind of heat you'll be looking at.

Wanted to knock out all the tuning now then add all Team Z suspension over the winter.... but that’s a different story. I just want a max effort tune out of the little 2.3 for now.

I ran that combo on my car ages ago, made about 26-27psi (would drop off) and made 671rwhp on 110 this was on a Gen II whipple so on a Gen I would imagine it would drop it about 2 psi.

I’d you hit 700hp the 3:73 would be the gear you would want. Any shorter you will run out of gear on the big end.

Everything was loaded up ready to roll until I checked the weather.... big potential snow storm for NC. Don’t want to trailer a car into bad weather so I will have to wait until next weekend.

I didn’t figure I’d be that high in boost. I see 18# now with a 2.93/ 2# combo with longtubes and catless x. I assumed with a 2.75/4# setup I’d see about 22-23# and then drop off a little?

Exaclty. With 600rwhp i was going 132mph and getting close to a 4th gear redline on 3.73s on a 26" Slick. With my new set up im going to 28" to give me more grip and MPH headroom.
