1995 Cobra R information and parts identification thread

As I've been restoring a GS raced 95 Cobra R I'm starting to pull out a lot of my loose parts. I thought it might be a good idea to start putting the pictures with part numbers online under one thread so that others can see what parts look like. There are some other documents that myself and others will probably upload as well.

I'm finding that there's a lot more to these cars that just replacing the stock 5.0 with a 5.8.

Below is the parts list of unique parts on the 95 Cobra R.

F4PU9E926AA (M-9926-B50) Throttle body (this is the Motorsports replacement part so the date code is not correct but otherwise it is identical to the stock part)

F5ZV9428BA and F5ZV9429BA exhaust manifolds (sold as Motorsports part number M-9430-R58). Easiest way that I have found to identify the real ones is if you look at the drivers side header the second tube from the rear has a pretty substantial dent in it to clear the steering shaft. This is not present in aftermarket shorty headers.

F5ZV10239BA - Alternator mounting bracket (this part looks pretty crude but is how they came. I've looked at a few of them and they are all similar. Also note the stamped in part number)

Not trying to steal your thunder, but I will comment as this thread gains traction. This assembly is identical to a 5.0 upper other than the "8" on the intake, which required a new part number. Many of the race teams took the 5.0 upper and welded the "0" sold and ground them out to create an "8". The lower was the same as a Lightning.

Not stealing thunder at all Tom, in fact I encourage the dialogue as this is how we learn about these cars. I don't remember but if you have one of the modified ones I'll add the picture to the same post as the stock intake so that people can see the difference. You bring up another point in that I believe the cast part number on the 95R is the same as a base Cobra intake.

Engine oil cooler and brackets (these are identical to the 93R parts down to the part number)

F5ZV8A261AB and F5ZV8A211AB (these are stock pieces that have an additional triangle piece added to fill the gap due to the fact that the radiator is actually tipped rearward when installed. New piece is pop riveted in place.

F5ZV2A032AB (Ford Motorsports M-2032-R58) - Master cylinder - 1" with larger reservoir (easiest way to identify is the yellow cap and rubber band and reservoir is larger than stock)

F5ZV6582BA - RH Valve cover (main difference is the additional kinked tube added)



Here is the LH valve cover which is identical to a stock 94-95 Cobra valve cover except the decals are different. 5Y443D2 is the internal part number for a 5.8L 95 Cobra R engine.

I don't have the original bushings for the upper brackets but after looking at some original ones I found the upper radiator brackets from O'reilys to look very similar and function the same.
