A friend that recently bought a 70 GT500 Grabber Orange Convertible

Tom

Tom,

Are the last 4 of his VIN 1585?
The 69-70's are on a slow uptick, but have not yet seen the 40-50% jumps in value as the 65-67's have. 68's are on a slight uptick over the last 3 years, but not as high as the 65-67's.

I think the focus shifting away from the 60s and moving to the 70's-mid 90's.

I think the cars from the 60's are still awesome but I'm not sure how much upside there is left in that market.

Yep, agree 100%. Maybe this will allow me to get an old, undesired 60s Shelby to rebuild the carb on every few years.

Bill,

I don't know the number but it is a white interior 70. Can't remember if it was auto or stick. From memory, he said there were 7 GO vert in 69 & 70. Only 3 in 70. Two auto and one stick, or vice versa. His is the "one of".

If you find the right buyer a bunch possibly $140K
Open MSO could help or hurt...depending if you wanted to register it (taxes)

I believe the car this thread is about is still on MSO.

I would not consider this price to be an accurate assessment of the market value of these cars.

I talked with my main ford man (owns multiple dealerships) about this 93 cobra R sale. The seller was a friend of his from Alabama that took a few cars from his collection to barrett jackson and did very well. Oh...he got 6 50th anniversary cobra jets ordered, all sold to his buddies and such, one may be for sale at dealership.

Didn’t the buyer pretty much admit that he overpaid on his Instagram account? 500 Mile 93R’s were in the low $50’s in 2015. Absolutely no way car went up 200% in 4 years. I know someone that just sold a 93R a couple weeks ago for $70K and he thought he got all the money. Car had 200 miles.

My friend turned down 65k a couple of months ago but was very happy with the BJ sale.

I've got a 95 track whore, and I'm happy with the results. But I get its a one off trade.

I think your car is #23 of 250. It was manufactured one day (2-28-95) and 90 cars before my #113 on 3-1-95.

It was once owned by Brian in my records. He was fast driver back when he was a much younger guy.

Nonetheless, it is time to stop tracking these cars as you may wreck it. JMO.

I owned #26 several years ago. This one is 214, privately campaigned in SCCA as #48 in ITE thru 2003 by Mike McGinley out of KC area. Gemini racing out of AZ did the first work on the car when new. Kenny Brown updated the car in early 2002, and it is in his production as 02-014CR. I believe it is the only Kenny Brown CR car in 02, and the only CR car Kenny Brown did. Mr.. McGinley Ultimately won the SCCA national event in Topeka Ks on August 31, 2003. Of the 11 races he competed in during 2003, he had 5 firsts, 2 seconds, 3 thirds, and 1 forth, result, regional champion. I'd love any other history, or corrections to that history that anyone might have.
As to damaging the car, I have swapped out the original drivetrain for a crate ford 427 and TKO 600 to protect the serial numbers correct pieces, but I bought the car to enjoy, and that includes taking it on the track. The car now has a little over 10K miles, and has plates for occasional street use. If the R's get to 6 figures, I would probably re evaluate that idea though.
