I know one of the guys who was behind the whole SAAC car thing. It was a real passion play for hardcore fans and associates of Shelby. Problem was, you could build that car's mechanical parts right out of the Ford Motorsport catalog for about $3,000 on top of the price of a well optioned GT or LX 5.0. The rest of it was body kit, badging, stripes, and a serial number, and just wasn't worth the money to anyone who wasn't a serious fan of quasi-Shelby lineage with serious money.
