All I can say is never never use 285's or bigger on the front of a cobra or mustang ever! But I still have great tracking and oversteer thanks to being able to hit the gas and get the rear lite 275s out front even in some of the lower end tire should be just fine and on and 18"x9 wheel I think its the only size tire you should ever run on there (front) as for the rears...305's are the max I would say for a 10" wide wheel for what you seem to be looking for 315's will fit but 305's will handle alittle better. Yes I run 335's but I like the rear real real lose in the corners and I hook up off the line perfect so for ME its just what I want for MY driving style. Keep that in mind...he says this is the best set-up but he said this is better....there both wrong and there both right cause everyone like a different feel to fit there driving style. But I think most people here will agree that 275's on a 18x9 front is about as good as it gets.
Never go wider than 275 on the fronts but with most brands of tires and tread types I haven't heard really anyone having problems with road tracking very much. The 2 people I know that 1 used 295's and the other 285's had road tracking very very bad and I drove both of these cars. WOW!
