On the 93 Cobras..what is the biggest tire will fit the 15x8 welds with a 4.5 back spacing???? Anyone know??? I know the 5.5 backspacing is better but for 200 dollars I got a full set of welds...

Will the 275/50/15 fit or 275/60/15 be better????
I'm not gonna roll my lip and I certainly dont want the tire sticking out...please let me know if you got some info... Thanks Spencer

I'm runnin Draglites but there 5.5" backspace 15x8 with Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro 26x12.50s. 4.5" backspace may work but your gonna be tucked in closer to the quads. I would think a 275-50 will fit; may still rub the quads though. I had to roll my inner lip though but it wasn't a big deal. A 275-50 will be closer to keeping your effective gear correct. Jumping up to a 275-60 would kill some of your gearing; 275-60 prolly close to 28.25" tall vs. 275-50 prolly closer to stock around 26" tall.

I want the 275/50's to fit..with less back spacing I didnt think the Quad shock would be close to rubbing...I dont want tires to stick out or rub the fender lip...cuz 275/50's look huge on my buddies notch..on 15x8 but there 5 lug so I cant even try'em..

You are correct, the 4" BS, they will stick out further than fiveoh's 5.5" backspacing. I think you are going to be hard pressed not to rub no matter which tire you go with. The difference between the 275/50 and the 275/60 is mainly in height (although the sidewall will be a little wider on the 50 series tire).

I would try to go with whichever one is closer to the stock height of the 245/40/17's...

yeah the 4.5" back space puts the wheel out, not in. I agree with 2771, you will more than likely rub on the fender lips in the rear. Try the 50 series tire, it may only rub on bumps. I am sure the 60's will rub

With the 50 series do you think the tires will stick out of the wheel well??? That would be just WRONG.. I have some 275/40/17(non DR) on the back and it only rubs on a slopey turn....
Besides my bushings in the rear are shot..my rear end has moved ever so slightly to the passenger side.. I have new uppers/lowers that need to put on before anything gets mounted up..

A 4.5" BS will stick out and rub on a regular 5.0 foxbody! So on the Cobra it will stick out almost another 3/4 in. You will have almost a 1/2inch of wheel outside the lip.
:xpl:

Before you worry about buying a tire bolt on the wheel by itself to see just how much the wheel hangs out.

Thats a good point..I'll do that tomorrow...

So if someone wanted to trade some 93 rims(paints chippin on two rims and fair tires) for my welds(in good condition) + 400 bones is that a good deal???

not really. OEM cobra wheels are more expensive than Welds in most cases

50 series has nothing to do with the width. The series only affects height. 275 is your width (in millimeters)
