Im curious on how fast you can get a pretty much stock cobra to go. Is 12's possible with just full exhaust, 4.10 gears, and weld big and littles? Thanks.

Yep, it can be done with some good driving and a good launch.

Your looking at full-on slicks, exhaust, and every other little trick in the book.

I had an LX that went 12.80 with some stock ported E-7 heads, GT-40 intake, stock 19lb injectors, 73 C&L, 2 1/2" exhaust, 3:73's and a set of slicks, full serpentine belt.

Probably possible with the right conditions, but then it really wouldn't be stock?

6k rpm launch, slicks, powershift your @$$ off.

I'm assuming he means the engine for the most part.

And as you stated, leave hard and powershift the hell out of it.

Are you still using the factory control arms? Any sort of aftermarket will help also.

Back in 95-96 my stock motor 100k mile '89 LX hatch would consistantly run 13.0's with a best of a 13.002 @100mph. The car only had 3.73 gears, off road hpipe, flowmaster catback, C&L Meter, Underdrive Pulleys, 14 deg. timing, subframe connectors and 26x8 ET Drags, everything else was the way it came from Ford.. The motor was never touched, the a/c blew cold etc etc.. it was my daily driver "college beater car"

A 93 Cobra with the same mods should easily go 12.60s with a good driver.

IMHO think 4.10s will slow you down... I would go with 3.73 on a 26" slick.

Yeah I am not a fan of the 4.10s but they were in the car already so there is no point to change. Just subframes and lowering springs done to suspension. No subframes. I think around 12.80 but we will see. Thanks guys for your input.

Done it MANY times with 93' Cobras and other foxes

My 87 coupe won the AMRA world championship in 1994, stock engine with 1.7 rockers, 3.55 gears 8.5" slicks, headers , exh. and pulleys. NOTHING else.....went 12:58 at 105. If anyone knows Evan Smith ask him about it. Hermann
