I've got a 2012 Kona Blue GT. Looking for any tips and suggestions on getting this car looking great. I clay bar it about every 6 months and every other week have been applying some Meguiar's Gold Class Caranuba wax. This wax doesn't seem to last more than two weeks (as expected). I have been looking into some of the better polishes and sealants out there. I was going to order some Klasse all in one polish and Klasse high gloss sealant glaze. I have a ton of microfibers and cobra waffle weave towels. Just curious on what else I should add to the list. Was looking for a decent spray wax/sealant to use with the polish? What applicators I should order? I don't have an electric buffer and don't plan on ordering one right now. My knowledge for paint care is slightly over rookie. I have never used sealants or polish before. Thanks guys!

Paint correction with a pc7424xp or griots garage da polisher. I use meguiars da correction kit and blackfire wet diamond paint sealant. Topped with dodo juice supernatural. Or midnight sun. Both very good waxes but dodo is quite expensive. I use blackfires spray wax/detail spray whatever they call it lol and I use the small yellow applicators. Any other questions feel free to ask! :)

Here is mine beading months after one coat of sealant and two of dodo sn.

This is how Zaino Z2 looks on Kona Blue when it's properly polished:

i use Adam's Polishes alot...also Chemical Guys...hand polishing won't make a car perfect, it's more for cars that barely see road (towed in for car shows or driven once a week and garaged) if you want perfection you gotta have a machine...the Porter Cable 7424XP is the safest thing you can use...with the Adam's line it's a three polish with pad (color matched so no guessing what goes with what, then the glaze and sealant and the americana which is pictured above)...other products have other pads and steps...Adam's is a little pricey but worth the money plus you have a 110% money back guarantee if you don't like it

How would one improperly polish a car?

Without going into a long diatribe on paint correction; I'll keep it simple. An improperly polished car is one that doesn't look its best in regards to the level of defects corrected and the level of gloss created. A sealant/wax is strickly the icing on the cake. I prefer Zaino on metallic colors because of the way it adds a noticeable amount of reflectivity. Zaino also claims that it's optically clear which is also a plus on metallic colors and can enhance this appearance.

Bottom line....you want your car looking it's best, look for a regiment that will correct and enhance the finish with the least number of steps and guess work. I strongly feel this can and should be done in 2 easy steps. Don't search for a wax or sealant to be your savior of appearance. You could put the worst wax/sealant on a correctly polished finish and it would still look amazing. On the other hand, you could put the most expensive, hyped up wax/sealant on a less then perfect finish and it's still going to look mediocre.

I suggest this:

Porter Cable DA buffer w/5 inch backing plate
5 inch Meg's MF correction pads (2-4)
5 inch finishing foam pads (2)
Meguiars D300 Polishing compound
Menzerna 85rd finishing polish

That looks great! I just ordered Klasse AIO, Klasse high gloss sealant and some Wolfgang instant detailer. Will post pics when done.
