Hello all

Just wondering if anyone has come up with a stand alone controller to allow for a 10R80 swap into a 13-14 GT500? As far as I know the 10R80 was derived from the 6R80 so I am hoping someone is working on a way to allow for its use in a S197 car.

Do these stand alone trans controllers typically retain launch control and other similar features or are they strictly just for basic transmission function?

The 6R80 seems to be stronger for boosted applications.
I am not sure why a 6R80 would be stronger as the 6R80 was the basis for the 10R80, internally they use many of the same gears although obviously at different ratios. I have worked for Tier 2 suppliers that were making sintered metal forgings of both 6R80 and 10R80 gearsets and they were of comparable size and strength, I also had a stint working for Ford and was told by VOME engineers that the 10R80 is basically a 6R80 with more gears

This is a good topic.
I wonder with the massive torque the 5.8's put out, if the car would be faster with the 6 speed auto vs the 10 speed auto. Seems like the 6 speed auto would be better for the torque curve.

I don't have the exact info handy at the moment. Remind me and I'll post it later.

I saw Where some aftermarket clutches were released for the 10r80 yesterday, but until more stuff is released a 6r80 with a billet front planetary ( or 4r200 hub), billet intermediate shaft etc is hard to beat.

All the 10R clutches are smaller and the pressures are much higher.

Not likely on the 18/19 Pcm. Too much is linked through it. If you did a complete rewire it might be possible but you would at the very least lose abs and the gauge cluster.

I would also be interested in the 10R80 is robust enough to handle the output of a 13/14 car, particularly when modified.

Not even worth the effort, the 6R is all a blown 5.8 needs and it's a proven swap.
I see zero performance gain from a 10R over the 6R.
Hit the easy button when you can, the effort isn't worth the result in this case.

The 10r is starying to slip in 7th over 800hp. But mcleod has after market clutches and steels available.

Circle d is working on a converter

Agreed! I watch YDBT Videos on Youtube and he has driven a few 6r80/4r200 GT500's and it seems like the perfect automatic for the 5.4/5.8. I would definitely rock one.
