Probably easier to pull and save the Trinity and drop in a Coyote, cheaper if I bend it of course.

-J, glad you are in the 9's like you wanted to be. Also it's nice to see a car that isn't just a science project and actually performs.

Also a huge thanks to my friend Steve K. of XClutch USA. I’m running an organic version of their 9” triple disc and she took all I threw at it without an issue.
They make a cerametallic double and triple and it’s been the best clutch I’ve owned, including several other well know companies. I know you can buy them at American Muscle and if anyone is interested I’ll get you in contacted directly with Steve.

    @biminiLX killer runs man!

Still running an 8.8 right. How did it hold up and do you have any gear whine after running all weekend?

Also took a look at Xclutch and seem appealing. From what I can see the 9" double and triple disc versions use a non-sprung disc. Is yours that way and did you notice a difference compared to sprung disc clutch?

Hell yes! Congratulations. And it's still a stick car, that makes it even better.

Unless you have racing goals, or are just plain crazy :), the torque from a 5.8/TVS2650 is more than enough for any street car. Rolling into the car at 3500-4000rpm from a 3rd gear highway roll is violent—and crazy good fun!

Congrats J! Bad ass times. Your car looks and runs great. I totally agree with your statement above. I am on my last E85 tune, and you have to be careful even in 3rd gear and Toyo 888r in 315 size. It is violent. Ken

Hey man, thankfully I ditched the 8.8 last year. For anyone drag racing a MANUAL GT500, do yourself a huge favor and swap to a Strange bolt-in S197 9” rear. The 8.8 can live with huge power on lighter auto cars, but for heavy stick shift Shelby cars, there is NO WAY you’ll get the 8.8 to not whine. Take it from a guy whose built 3 and had 4 gear sets in it.
On the clutch, I do have a solid hub version, but they can build it any way you want. This clutch is an experiment to see if the organic will live at this power and weight and allow slipping for drag use.
It’s great on the street, light weight as a triple and no chatter. Mine does have a touch of rattle due to the slolid hubs but it’s only with the clutch in and that’s also something I’ve learned to drive around.
For guys at normal power levels probably 800rwhp, their dual cerametallic sprung hub would probably be the hot setup. I’ve driven their cerametallic solid triple in their TVS LS Ute and it was perfect.
Another thing I liked about the clutch kit is that it includes EVERYTHING needed for install, including slave cylinder, ARP flywheels bolts and a cool billet splined alignment dowel.
Easy to talk to Steve and spec out the right one for you.

Agreed Ken. I wanted this car to scare me and it does in a good way. I like to hit it from 3500-4000 and that’s right at 900-950rwtq! Talk about throwing you in the seat and then not stopping til 7200 :)

I seriously got the car home around midnight on Wednesday and scrambled to get it ready and loaded late Thursday. Never had driven it at this power level or used the 15” bias and adjustable suspension on track, Hell we installed Strange single adjustable front struts Thursday night!
First pass was a 10.0, second spun bad and the third test run was a 9.77. I then had to just focus on making 3 clean passes in True Street. I was happy with a 9.80 average. Sunday morning I iced it down and ran the 9.55.
For Mod Nats, if the weather is as it usually is, I’ll have at least 2 tenths in the DA plus I’ll have exhaust cutouts (probably some power there bypassing the stock mufflers) allowing me to use the WOT BOX 2-step launch. I may also try the no-lift shift, but I was rifling off fast 2/3 and 3/4 shifts all weekend. I will probably add a degree of timing as well.
So, 9.20s and high 150s at Mod Nats?
    @[email protected] I wonder how much a Gen3R would gain? :)
Plus I haven’t touched the NX spray bar installed in the lower intake, but that might be night to tap in 3rd down track.

J, I am waiting to see how much the cutouts help. I may do the same thing in the future. Who installed the spray bar in the lower for you? Thanks, Ken

Going to a 9" myself as I've also rebuilt my diff twice now. It's whining pretty bad again, and I know it's not going to last. Is the Strange 9" a truly bolt in deal?

Great runs J, I would really be tempted to move to the 3R if I were you....I think you'd pick up some very nice power over the Gen3 spinning it as hard as you are.
