Not sure if this forum is still very active but I could use some help with an upcoming build! I'm going to be swapping a built terminator engine into a low mile 2004 Marauder. I'm working to gather the parts now but one area i'm struggling is the transmission.

  • I've heard the factory torque converter is around a 2800 stall on the 2004s. Is this a solid choice for a street car? No major plans for drag racing or anything. The car already has 4.10 gears installed
  • What 8 bolt flexplate should I get? I'm running the factory forged 8 bolt kellog crank so the OEM marauder 6 bolt flexplate wont work. Will a 99-01 Mustang GT 8 bolt flexplate work? I measured the TC in the car and it looks like there is about 10.5" between the mounting studs. Any other suggestions?

If anyone else has done this swap before and has any suggestions, i'm all ears!

Chris

I don't have the answers to your questions, but I did see that Tremec is releasing their DCT and they put it in a lightning... I think your lightning needs one as well!

Bump so maybe you get some help.

I can’t help, I’m just really looking forward to seeing this awesome project on your channel.

My friend Chris has an 8 bolt SFI flex plate if you want to go that route, otherwise the OEM 8 bolt Ford one will work

You are correct on the torque converter and it is what I ran in my eaton swapped car til the trans blew. A PI stallion 3000 stall converter was also a popular choice back in the day for supercharged cars. I almost went with a Circle D until I ended up manual swapping.

Also, I hope you're going to look into using the eaton swap brackets instead of the terminator pulley bridge. If you try to use the terminator setup as is, you have to notch a chunk out of the frame for the alternator to clear, just creates a bunch of extra unnecessary work.

I ordered an 8 bolt SFI flexplate off of summit for around $100 that I think will work.

I'm planning on notching the frame because I already have the complete cobra accessory drive and I like to make things challenging haha. I also don't like how the swap brackets look

Where would I find info on those swap brackets so I can see what they look like?

Thanks
