Hi there,

New member here and I wanted to get some information about running a Vortech V2 supercharger. I have an automatic 04 GT and I want to run a Vortech V2 S-trim on low boost(6-8psi max). I would be getting a cat-less x-pipe, 42-lb injectors, a 90mm lightning maf, a bigger fuel pump (not sure what to get yet), and potentially an aftermarket intercooler (again, not sure what to get) to go with the V2. My car has no mods on it besides a catback exhaust system. The power output i'm looking for is around 330-360rwhp. I know an intercooler would help the life span of the supercharger system along with my motor, but I've heard of non-intercooled vortech setups running fine on low boost (6-8psi) with a good tune. So would an intercooler be necessary for what I want, or would I be safe without an intercooler? And if I would need an intercooler, what would be a good one to get? This car is also my daily (30 miles a day). Thanks for any information you guys can give me.

Welcome.

No need for an aftercooler at that level. A single Walbro 255lph would work for the pump. Look into a set of 3.73 or 4.10 gears and a good drag radial to bring the whole package together. It will be a whole 'nother car.

The walbro 255 you listed is not designed for a return less fuel system and will not last long. I've seen 2 fail over the years, luckily neither while the car was full throttle.

I would run an intercooler, Treadstone makes some very nice intercoolers , you can run an Aeromotive 340 stealth fuel pump.

I used a Walbro 255 once...and it died on me after a few weeks. Granatelli makes a good pump and I think it is 340LPH, the BBK pump is like 290LPH. They're pretty good. I've used both with no issues.

For 6-8 psi, with the 3.60 pulley, you do not need an intercooler. It helps because you can turn up the boost or add more timing, but you won't need it. I run a 3.33 puley with about 10-12 psi boost and no intercooler at all and it isn't too bad. But I will be upgrading soon. The CXRacing stuff looks pretty good. Gonna give that a try over the Summer.
