Okay, so I may be getting a good deal on a mach 1 engine here soon. But it is just the engine. My question is, will I be okay to just go ahead and swap the engines with my stock gt transmission? Or should I just wait until I have the transmission for the mach engine as well before I do the swap? I know the stock mach 5 speed was geared a little differently from the gt. I was just wondering if there may be any problems that come from it.

It should be fine. From mid 01-04 GT's use the same 3650 that came in the Mach 1's and Bullitts. The difference between the two is that the mach uses a slightly taller 5th gear ratio to compensate for the 3.55's that they come with from the factory. But 1st through 4th are the same. If you have a mid 01 and earlier GT or cobra they have the T45. But they both will live under the stresses of a mild mach engine. :burnout:

That should have the T45 in it, and it should bolt right up and you shouldnt have any issues with it. Normally stock trans' hold up until you start putting down a lot of power or start putting them through some abuse.

Okay good. I don't plan on adding any power until I get the mach trans to go along with it anyway; which will be in about a month or month and a half. Just as long as I can go ahead with the motor without having issues with the current trans, I am satisfied. :)

The "mach" trans is the same thing as the t3650 found in 01-04 gt, except for the 5th gear ratio like stated earlier in this thread. No point in trying to acquire a T3650 from a mach. The T45 you have now will work just fine and probably better than the T3650. Every mach I've been in had a noisy transmission, the T45s are quieter.

Did you get the swap done? I just wrapped up sticking an 03 MACH 1 crate engine and 4R75W in my 02 GT and I love it!!!

Yeah don't sweat it. Your t45 will work fine. Some people say the 3650 is a bit better of a trans but it's really an age old debate and some people just have good/bad luck with both.

I feel like it would do a little better with the t45 honestly. The extra power from the Mach motor would definitely pull a lot better through the gears than the gt motor.

And I haven't done it yet. I've tossed around so many different ideas though I'm not sure what to do. That guy ended up selling the motor I was going to get. However, I'm starting a 2nd job next Wednesday so my income will more than double. So a swap or a supercharger of some kind might be right around the corner. The Mach swap with nitrous seems pretty appealing right now too.

And dark knight, did you notice a major difference with power between the 2 motors? I've never driven a Mach before if I can just be honest lol.

With the bottom ends having the same power holding potential in the n/a 4v's as the 2v's honestly I don't ever see the need to swap a 4v in place of a working 2v motor. Sure if you're looking to build one then by all means build a 4v. IMO your money or anyone elses money with a good running 2v can be more efficiently spent on a blower/supporting mods for your existing engine than putting a 4v motor in that still will not make big power without forced induction.

True. So what about a 2001 saleen supercharged motor? They were 2v's correct? Came with 350hp (about) from the factory? My mechanic just texted me saying he found one. Would that be a good investment?

Something along those lines I don't remember the exact number, I'd just slap the blower from it on your car no need to swap the entire engine lol

Duh haha. Had a bit of a moment there. Okay, I've found a complete saleen blower for $2,500 on CL. Is that a reasonable price or is it a little over priced? I feel like its a little high, seeing how the complete drivetrain my mechanic found with 60,000 miles is only $2,300.

4V vs. 2V

I chose the 4V route because I had 231K on my 2V and I found a 03 Mach 1 crate engine (zero miles) with a new 4R75W plus some extras for $1500.
It also turned out to be the manual Mach motor because it has the 8 bolt forged crank in it!

^^^^Lucky-.- lol. That's an awesome find! I might have found a 99 cobra motor for a pretty good deal on CL. I just got off the phone with the guy and he has 3 mach motors, and a 99 cobra motor. This motor came out of a flood car. They took the motor and completely rebuilt it. He said it runs flawlessly. I forgot to ask about warranty, but if it all checks out. I think I may jump on it. I'll call him back later and ask about warranty.
