Got a freshly rebuild transmission from tick performance. When put back in the car it was leaking from what seemed like the MGW shifter. Turns out one of the bolts was stripped. Helicoiled that and got it tight. Now it seems like it's still leaking from the same area but all the bolts are tight. Used the gasket that came with the MGW. Not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Have you checked to see if the case is cracked near that stripped out bolt hole?

I ask because what usually happens to those holes is they get filled with RTV when installing a shifter and tightening the bolts pulls the threads as the bolt tries to compress the RTV. It's way more common then most realize.

The force created can also crack the case. I've done something similar on an oil filter adapter.

I know you said you used a gasket but most likely one wasn't used in the past.

I never thought of that. I'll have to look. Yes it was used gasket. I ordered a new one and should arrive next week or so. Thank you.

I genuinely hope I'm wrong.

Take a hard look at the actual gasket surface of the trans and make sure you don't have any large scratches or gouging that would prevent the gasket from sealing.

Any large dips from people cleaning off the old RTV with a rolock disc will also cause leakes.
