I have a question for you guys w. the 03/04 Cobras. My buddie is thinking about getting gears for his car. I told him to get 4.10's. And he thinks they are to steep.so what should he do? are the 4.10's to steep?.

Keep the comments comming

4.10's are way to steep unless your going to a 28" tire....i am running a 3.73 and it made a fairly noticeable difference...i am still going to go to a 28" tire as i am trapping 6500-6600 RPM on the bottle...

the car will feel faster/quicker with the 4.10, for some reason the enignes in these cars like to be loaded...either leave the 3.55's or dont go more than 3.73's.

I would have to agree w/ the 3.73's or 3.90's. I had 4.10's in both my 98 and 01 Cobras. They were naturally aspirated though. It pulls a lot harder down low but w/ the 03/04's w/ the roots (eaton) blowers. You don't really need that much gear. The more power you make, the harder it will be to keep the tires from breaking loose on the street. Just my honest opinion. I've thought about going to 3.73's or 3.90's myself.

I have 4:10's and love them. I am not a track guy, but for the street, in these cars they are nasty. You learn to drive with them on take off, but if you are at a roll, and you mash the pedal, hold on :) I was thinking of 4:30's originally, but that would be a little steep. Go 4:10's you will love it IMO! It made my car a animal!

How high is your rpm at 65mph?

i have 4.10's in a five speed and at 70mph i am at 2600 rpm, so with a six speed you will be fine, and if you dont like the rpm you are at, get a taller tire

I like 410's, I had em on my old car(96impala) and they sucked, I would be going 80 and pushing 3200rpm, now with this car I am around 2700(I think)

This is good info as I am trying to decide on 3.55 or 3.73's. I am at 2100rpm at 70mph with my stock 3.27's. Ford Racing told me 3.73's would put me at about 300rpm higher than the stock gears.

my buddy runs 10.63 at atlanta dragway with his 03 cobra and he has 4:30 gears, its really sweet, solid rear axle, ported blower, 15lbs of boost, nos dry 90shot, uppers and lowers, welded up torque boxes, and bfg kd drag radials. lots of other small mods that i cant think of. but definitly if your going to have drag radials 4:30 gears are fun. (if not heated up traction doesnt come until middle or 4th gear) lol. REAL FUN!!

I have had both 3.73 and the 4.10s on my cobra. The 4.10 are so much better then the 3.73. But you also need to think about heat. The exhaust comes out the back on the mustangs. Well the IRS sits in a little "Air Pocket" which keeps the heat in. When it keeps the heat in it also heats up the gear (not good if its too hot) What i would do is also buy a rear differential cooler from Kenny Brown. This will keep the gear to the right temperature=max performance. Just something to think about.

You want 4:30's or at least 4:10's the 03/04 cobra's come stock with 3:55's and the eaton makes tons of tq and hp down low in the rpm range your car does not, I run a 4:10 gear in my car with the vortech and almost wish I would have gotten 4:30's but with the power I make 4:10's are great. You should get no less then a 4:10 for a 02 or under cobra or a Mach 1.
