all the alignment and bumpsteer adjustment complete... took some lash out of the rack while i was at it... -2.3 camber, +7.5 caster, and 0.5 toe out with SAT bumpsteer verified between +2.5" bump and -1.5" droop... now, just need an event not to get cancelled...
argghhhh... auto-x event I've been thrashing to be ready for on the 23rd just got canceled due to a mix-up in venue scheduling... no venue.... no auto-x... argghhh
The board and the hammer dolly are just meant to put a little pressure on the rig...
It is amazing to me that the difference in bumpsteer, keeping less than 0.020" change in toe per inch, between the first and the last was a delta of 0.135" in spacers...
Started with a 0.48" spacer and...
always spray your base coast on a test panel before spraying the car. just saying, I had a piece of white card board that I had hit with primer sealer (same as fenders) and then sprayed with a test of base coat. Looked like a match. Not so much. The fenders have brand new Zinc Yellow and rest of...
The vents i added really did not drive any compromises with the fender flare, with or without them, the flare would have been essentially the same, it just added much more finish work due to the larger area impacted by the metal-work... getting it all smooth and straight around the vents was...
march event came and went so fast... need to get some competition laps on the new setup... its been 6 years since last auto-x... slightly higher ride height, different tire setup obviously, fwd offset lower a-arms => added 3/4" to wheel base, different wheel rates at all 4 corners, wilwoods at...
next up wet sanding before buffing... whole car, need to get down to fresh clear coat... so that will be fun... still need to set bump steer and then adjust toe...
after countless hours making a panel or in this case a couple fenders as close to perfect as you can, it takes a bit of courage to pull the trigger on the paint gun, only one chance to get it right and lots of chance to ruin all the hard work...
by the way, to do this again, i would not do the vents to the rear of the wheel arch, added a bunch of complexity to the finish body work because so many different angles intersect there after you flare the arch...
forgive the low res pictures, i did a double take and pulled up the high res ones and then went out to the garage to look again because the lines of the fender looked so bad in low res... really weird, the algorithm really makes some odd choices at the edges...
Drivers side with final coat of primer after minor corrections with glazing putty…
Once it cures some final surface prep before base coat…
Passenger side is curing with some high build primer/surfaces… then some 320 grit before correcting anything still needing fixing…
Hopefully lay down the...
Lol… I’ve owned this car since 2002… so it’s not like I just bought it… been racing it for years… wanted to go square… but it may not work out, then I can just put it back the way it was… only thing I’ve really chopped on is the fenders, nothing cobra unique there, just a 99-04 mustang fender…...
