Yes the Gurney flap is a plastic lip add on that comes in the trunk. The stock spoiler on the car is predrilled for it and has screws in those holes. When you add the Gurney piece, it comes with slightly longer screws. You remove the existing screws and secure using the longer screws. The flap...
I ended up in this exact boat. Same amount on the exact car I wanted. If you look around the country, you'll find that 6k over is below the norm. Think about it this way, lets say that car sells and you look back on it thinking I had the chance to make it mine and I held out and lost it. Or I...
I concur with 93 347. Why use nitrous? Just add a pulley, tune and/or setup for E85. You'll have that extra kick when you want it. Tuning for compound power adders is tricky and you're at the mercy of however good your tuner is. Adding more boost to the stock setup is much easier to tune for.
Now we're talking Corsairs, my all time favorite. Yes when Goodyear built the F2G's with the corncob R4360, that was an impressive final act in the lineage. There are only 2 left. One is a museum in Seattle and 1 is owned by Walmart founder Sam Waltons grandson right here in Arkansas. I have yet...
Its been stated before that this current version of the GT500 is only a 3 year run, 20-22 model years. Somewhere I remember a Ford exec even stating that. Thats why you're seeing this upcoming special edition. Who knows if there will be another GT500. Ill bet this is the last of the supercharged...
Congrats on the order! You'll love it. I understand what you mean on the color thing. Ive never had a problem picking out a color on a new car or truck I wanted until this GT500 came along. I kept bouncing around over the blues and it didnt help that Ford had 3 of them. I know it may be a wait...
That does look nice. I think whenever I mod my GT500, I may go with Livernois for their 93 tune and maybe a pulley at some point. They have a great rep, been around a long time, and work with Ford a lot. For now Im plenty happy with it stock though
No one knows yet for sure but I was watching VINs of new cars delivered on Car Gurus, Auto Trader, etc. and you can see by the last 4 digits roughly how far along Ford is on the 21 build quantity. Ive seen a couple in the low 4000s, that were just delivered to dealers, so they might make 4500...
The C8 unit is a transaxle design, a lot different than the 7 speed version the GT500 got. Our trans is bolted up right behind the engine like a conventional transmission. The transmission in the last few generation corvettes is NOT behind the engine but bolted to the differential instead. A...
Certainly looks like it. Thats not a 21 color. Maybe thats a preproduction unit or it could be a dealer ordered car and the only 21s that are being finished out are the track pack cars someone stated elsewhere.
Ok so if you want Grabber Blue, its gotta be a 22 then. You pretty much want the same car I got but different color. I wanted Antimatter Blue so I had to find a 21. Down here in the mid south, the markups are a lot more realistic than other parts of the country. I had several dealers around here...
Have you looked on any online car search websites to see if there is a 21 in the spec you want already out there and available? Unless you're after a really rare or unique color or options package, most likely there is a 21 out there or dealers will be getting a 22 model car to your spec without...
I will consider having it done. I had the Viper done a while back and its incredible, so easy to maintain, dry, and it always looks polished. Its a great way to protect your investment and adds to the value of a car too.
They showed you a order summary. Thats the same thing my local dealer sent me after he said they could order another 21 for me. The following week, there was the gas leak at the plant and the Ford rep told this dealer that they wouldnt pick up this order due to having enough orders to build out...
I went through something similar a while back but the dealer never asked for a deposit. Its always good to find out if the deposit is refundable too. Most dealers will do this in case of a life changing event. I also was told at the time that 21 production would go until late December so you may...
Interesting....on a side note, why does the Mach 1 get the open air filter but the GT500 has an enclosed box? My buddies Redeye is the same, open filter. Maybe Ford didnt want any extra heated air getting into the engine knowing that the intake air was already going to be compressed and...
CobraBob, Thanks and yes thats why I love dark blues. Friends and neighbors that have seen it outside really like the color. Its a very heavy metallic too so when the sun is on it, does it ever pop. Yes Im glad things worked out the way they did.
I love the 6 speed TR-6060 in my Viper. It has the best clutch/shifter feel of any manual trans car Ive owned but Id still take a DCT over it in a heartbeat.
Ok, makes sense because today was the first time I got on the gas that hard. Ive been driving it easy with just rolling on the gas some or easy pulls in manual mode with the paddles. It just felt weird getting on the gas pretty good and it not dropping low enough. I know with an engine that revs...
So today I was on the freeway getting some more miles in, its over 400 now. I was in sport mode about 70, just cruising. A truck was coming up on me fairly quick so I thought why not punch it and speed up, then move over. So I hit the gas pretty hard and the car went from 7th to 3rd I think. It...
Great runs! Launching a viper hard from a dig is tricky. They are light but can burn the tires for a block no problem. I think they're actually stronger from a roll due to the tall gearing and traction is usually out of the equation by then. For example, I can go to 2nd gear at 60mph and the...
I have the B&O system and I think its pretty nice. Definitely has a lot of power and sounds awesome but then you have to ask how much do you want to listen to the radio while driving this car? For a factory unit, it rocks though. Glad it has a CD player still too.
