Before you say "go longtubes, do it right", I am overseas living in Spain (usaf) where I NEED ground clearance. Also the inspections here are pretty loose for Americans and American cars for servicemembers but it only goes to a point... Longtubes would be instant fail/impound every time on a...
I usually can google-fu these answers or search them on a forum but I can't for the life of me find the part number or even if I have to replace the GT fuel line for something else for an IRS swap. The car has been swapped for 2 years and has been fine but I remember reading that you are...
Looking at longtubes but living where I live it might be... problematic... I'm military overseas and longtubes will pass the military safety inspection for my car on base but if the local policia decide to be jerks I don't want to be in that situation. Mid lengths will still pass a visual as...
Car has the entire full tilt boogie delrin treatment out back, putting Delrin GW A arm bushings in the front, setting it up for handling. Has a 1 and 3/8" swaybar up front now. Don't want to do all this suspension work on it and then have a weak link where the swaybar attaches. How prone are...
Kind of a unique situation for me. I'm stationed in Europe so longtubes are a no go where I live right now (Spain). Especially if I go to Germany next they literally will not release my car to me with longtubes on it. Plus half the time in the states you can't have longtubes and pass...
I just went through the IRS, did ftbr bushings, new cross axis links, new swaybar endlinks, new subframe bushings, and new grade 10.9 metric hardware from Fastenal. Everything is tight... Torqued to specs on the FTBR site. This is my first IRS I've owned and driven regularly. Is this normal...
As the title states. I can do a straight trade of my 2000 R front brakes for a FTR GT500 big brake kit with GT500 4 piston calipers.
I'd like to do it if it'll be a worthwhile upgrade but I don't want to put too much front bias on the car if that'll be a problem.
Thx
Car is a 2000 GT with a 4V swap, IRS swap and a "frankensuspension" I just had to get it running and driving to be able to take it with me for a military PCS.
Wanting to make all 4 corners match plus I'll be going through the original circa 2000 front suspension stuff as well. I do already...
Before you tell me to "just get a hood", I'm active military and am in Spain. Shipping a hood over here would be at LEAST $1100 and then if it gets damaged in transit I'm screwed. So no go. Too big to ship to my PO Box.
I know it can be done, I've seen it on a few older threads but not how...
Figured you guys might find this interesting. For cheap replacement engines/parts or anyone doing a 4V conversion in a GT or whatever.
Got a 50k mile 99 Conti engine for $500 locally from a yard. Yard had a video of the engine running in the car with the odometer. Engine was stupid...
Traded the SRA for an IRS, the subframe and front diff mounts were already done with poly, rest was still rubber and original cross axis links. Also the rear mount had a stripped bolt hole. Replaced all remaining rubber with FTBR stuff including the FTBR aftermarket aluminum rear diff mount...
Long story short, bought a 2000 Steeda car that came with the Novi 2000. I'm 4V swapping it and not sure if I want to keep it with the centri or go with the Termi setup (and then later on upgrade the HU). Car is IRS swapped with full poly bushings and all new parts, I'm building a WAP block/C...
Have a 99 IRS. All the bushings in it are done except the control arms and I don't have the tools nor want to spend $100 to do them when I have a press. I'd also rather not kill myself with a breaker bar and the original rubber from 1999...
Would it be easy enough to just drill them out as...
$200 for running 42k mile 2000 Continental motor
$100 for custom adapter I tracked down on the Corral.
Paid $300 for a Mach intake
Have front cover/accessories/Cobra cams for free from other stuff I've parted out.
Wondering if there is a market for making more of those plates...
