Look up the seal saver kit. Its a sleeve that goes in there and is a permanent fix.

The Ford speedcal can do it and if you can find a dallas extended range speedcal I can give you the switch settings. The new Dallas units aren't extended range anymore due to some bullshit but if you get a used on from like 2012 it should be correct. I did this same thing in my 1998. T45 VSS...

Ay, I got seent this lol. Its busy around the steering wheel if you don't use the offset mount. Offset mount moves it right in front of the center left vent. Plenty of room and easy reach of your hand. Over where you have it on the right side of the stereo is way too far away. I'll get pics...
