The main EGR assembly is affixed to the side of the intake. I can't remember specifics, but I feel there were a vacuum line or two that I had to cap off back at the fire wall, maybe a bit towards the passenger side.
For the life of me I can't remember the routing of the pipes coming off of...
Warning....long winded post ahead.
While I can't provide you with a pictorial overview of the process (which I know is what you are asking for), know going in that a DIY'er like yourself can undertake the process of eliminating the EGR and smog pump without much trouble. I installed the same...
I have the previous set of plug wires that I took off the car from when I swapped the new Motorcraft wires onto it. I will take the old cylinder 4 wire and swap it onto the car to try that out. I have not pulled the plugs to check the gap, but I will. Thanks again guys for tossing ideas my...
Sorry guys, I feel like an idiot not mentioning in my original post about the coil. It is not coil on plug, it is a standard coil that all plug wires run and plug into. And yes, this has also been replaced with a brand new Motorcraft coil. I will re-check the plug on the injector as well as...
I would go buy a spark plug tester (probably under $15 at an auto parts store) and re-check your spark. I'm not saying you messed anything up by trying to use the method you did, but a tester is a cheap and easy way of checking the basics. How old is the gas that is in the tank? If it is a few...
I know this forum is really quiet these days, but I'm hoping someone out there will see this and can maybe give me some direction on where to go from here.
My dd 04 SVT Focus keeps having a cylinder 3 misfire. It is random on when it occurs, and will typically go away within 5-10 minutes of...
I've been running an in-tank pick up in my car for the better part of a decade with zero issues. Just last week I ran my car down to less than 1/8 of a tank (per the factory fuel gauge) without any issues. During this time of low fuel levels in the tank, I never did go wot. I didn't go wot...
Keep the updates coming! I love seeing these "through the years" changes that we all endure if we end up keeping our cars long enough. I love seeing where it's been, and let's all hear about where it's going!
I've been around for some time. My car is white, and I had a KB for many many years, so maybe it was me. Back in the day it seemed as there were only a hand full of us with KB's on this site. I mostly lurk anymore as I don't have much to say these days.
And OP, I for sure remember your car...
I think you may need to do some further testing considering you said that you had noticed the temp gauge got pretty high.
It's possible that it may be a head/head gasket problem.
Oil in the coolant (or visa versa) is a for sure sign that it could possibly be a head/head gasket issue...
It sounds as we will have a similar combo, so I can give you some real world knowledge as far as my stats and what has worked for me.
My combo:
8.8:1 w/forged internals
SHM blower cams
T-trim w/2.85 pulley (makes 20 psi.)
10% OD crank pulley
Long tubes w/off road mid pipe
Meth Injection
93...
Now this is my .02, so take it with a grain of salt.
I had a 1.5 KB on my car for years (~14 years and 80k+ miles if my memory serves me correctly). For all those years/miles, the KB never gave me any problems, so I would say the reliability was excellent. The instant off idle tire frying...
I have a 96 Cobra with a Vortech T trim. I have only driven the car a hand full of times in the past several months (since installing the new blower, etc.). I drove the car a month ago, and I would smell something "hot" or "burning." After checking the car out all over, I just drove it again...
My 96 cobra will crank but won't start. I am just now getting the car back together so this weekend was supposed to be it's first start up in quite some time. I checked and I don't have any spark.
What do I check? Could it be something that was forgotten about in the start up tune that...
I am having a brain fart and I can't recall/figure out where this plug goes. It is approx. 10" from the main wire harness connection (where the single bolt goes down through the connection) on the passenger side back in the corner by the fire wall. I believe it is the first thing that comes...
For sale is a Kenne Bell Boost a Pump that is in perfect working condition. This comes with everything you need to hook it up to your vehicle, including the installation instructions. I purchased this brand new from Kenne Bell several years ago, but I'm not sure if it is the 20 or 40a version...
My car has been down for quite some time now, but hopefully things will slowly begin to be pieced back together real soon.
Here's the car as it sits up on jack stands
Here's an underhood shot of where the Kenne Bell used to sit
Here's the new trans I just picked up. It's a 2000...
I posted this question in the blower bistro section, but I thought someone with an SN95 Cobra with a Vortech could help me out.
I have a 96 Cobra and I just put a Vortech T trim on it with a 2.85" 8 rib pulley. I called Vortech and they said I need a 112" 8 rib belt, but they don't sell any...
I already did a search looking for the answer to my question, but was unable to find any info.
I have a 96 Cobra and I just put a T trim with a 2.85" 8 rib pulley on it. Vortech tech line told me I need a 112" long 8 rib belt, but they don't sell them. I know there has to be others out...
I am in the process of installing a Vortech T trim on my 96 cobra. I am running a 2.85" 8 rib pulley on the blower. I have the blower shimed out away from the bracket 0.28" to compensate for the added thickness of the 8 rib vs. the 6 rib pulley.
My problem:
When trying to install the...
Ok, the engine's out of my car, and I am trying to get everything ready to put it back in. I removed the front cover to have it powder coated and I then noticed that the long chain on the passenger side of the engine (the one going from the crank to the cams) has a bit of slack in it. Now the...
I will be the first to admit I don't know too much about plumbing a V1 T trim with a FMIC in a 96 Cobra. I want to run a blow through set up, because from what I've read this will provide the best driveability, as well as allow me to vent my Tial BOV to the atmosphere.
My question is this...
I have two vortech 8 rib pulleys for sale. One is a 2.95 and the other is a 3.33. The 3.33 pulley has some minor scuffing and scratches, while the 2.95 may have a minor scratch or two, but basically looks brand new. Both of these pulleys are in perfect working order.
Looking for $50...
I have been searching on here for some info but I just can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I am planning on running the most boost possible with 93 octane pump gas on my 96 Cobra. A little background info on my car: Vortech T trim head unit, forged internals (8.8:1 cr), blower cams, meth...
