I don't see the funny. But I do see the smart...antique plates are a (relatively) small one time fee, don't have to be renewed every year. Even though most people wouldn't view this car as an 'antique', in most states the car only has to be 20-25 years old (I think TX is 25)

I would agree that there's probably a little bit of this going on too, if you've ever had any experience with 'reality' tv, you know how scripted that crap is
