I can't shift gears while I'm driving and I think it's because my clutch isn't disengaging. When the car isn't running I can shift through all the gears but not as smooth as how it normally would, any ideas what could be wrong? Stretched out clutch cable? Could it be a tranny problem?

I pulled the interior piece out to get to the fuel inertia switch in the trunk and noticed a vent underneath the driver's side tailight. It's more towards the rear quarter panel and on the side of the car. I saw pics of it in my Haynes manual, but none with a description. Anyone know what it is for?
