Looking for a used T56 out of the 03-04 SVT Cobra's. Prefer one with a 26 spline installed, good working order. I live in the Phx, AZ area but willing to travel to SoCal or neighboring states to pick up a good one.
LMK what you have and price.
Just to put an end to this thread... I installed some upgrade MMR timing components (pass Sec Tensioner, both primary Tensioners, Secondary Timing chains) and put everything back together and no more rattle. I'd definitely recommend MMR. The oil seep from their timing tensioner was to lubricate...
I ended up just ordering some MMR timing gear. In particular, this is an MMR 444036 passenger side secondary timing chain tensioner. It seems to leak oil at the bottom when I primed the engine block. I even put gasket maker at the oil galley for the tensioner. Is that normal?
I bought a Melling BT405 tensioner from Rockauto. I also here the click/slap in the video but am not sure where its coming from, but it definitely is in sync with the sec tensioner piston moving up. And I dont believe the tensioner/sec chain is hitting the guide because I dont see any markings...
I took both sec chains off and laid them next to eachother. I did not see any stretch or broken links on the passenger.
The only thing that I can think of now is that the tensioner I installed is not of quality build. I may just need to buy a new set again. My best bet might just be to install...
I popped off all the lifters and cam followers. They all seemed to be working, even used a vice clamp to test the lifters. I tried sticking a camera at the oil pickup tube and in the limited view I had, I didn't see any debris in it. I know the tensioners get oil because I took the secondary one...
Yeah, I've pulled the plugs and stuck a borescope camera on the passenger side cylinders and didnt notice anything strange. I did run the engine with the supercharger belt off for a little bit and noise was still there.
Next, I will be pulling the lifters and cam followers. Is there a spring...
Alright, so I rigged up the garden sprayer and did an oil prime test. The only strange thing I found so far was that the primary tensioners have a small hole where oil was seeping out of, I guess for dampening? I will have to try turning the engine by hand as well as priming.
Is there...
I popped off the timing cover, and everything seemed fine. Everything seemed to be in time.
I noticed that the plunger seal (White plastic on right) from the new tensioner fit loosely within the cylinder chamber, so oil could be leaking out and not putting enough tension? The old tensioner's...
I turned the car on one day and immediately noticed a loud rattle noise from the passenger's side head. I popped off the valve cover and noticed the secondary timing chain tensioner plastic guide (bottom one) was broken to pieces and there was some slack in the secondary chain. I replaced the...
I bought a junkyard engine for a little over $2k. It turns out to be one of those remanu engines, with the DC heads, and that remanu plate. I figure this is a good starting point for an engine, and from what I heard, these have some of the best parts. I will probably just rebuild this engine.
I...
All good points. Having the short block preassembled by a pro seems to be the way to go then. I believe it is going to depend on what deal I find out there to determine which direction I want to go. I got a quote for a fully assemble long block with ARP hardware for $8300.
Im wondering how much...
Has anyone built their own terminator engine in their garage? How difficult is an engine like this to build oneself? I never built an engine myself but believe I can work my way through it.
I was thinking about building my own engine, and using local machine shops for block and head prep. The...
I checked fuse 23 under the dash and it was good. I then noticed liquid dripping onto my driver side footwell. Heater core is definitely leaking so I put a heater core bypass in for now.
I believe I also have refrigerant leak somewhere. I want to refill my ac with refrigerant but if my ac...
Recently, while driving, my AC stopped working. I tried refilling the AC and it worked for a little bit until I turned it off and then back on and no AC again.
I checked the AC clutch and it was shot, and so was the bearing on the AC pulley. I have replaced the AC coil, pulley w/ new bearing...
If the IAC is reading temp, then I would assume that's not an issue as long as it's a reasonable reading. What is strange is that if your afr is high (lean) then your STFTs should be above 1 most likely, to add fuel. When cold, the car runs in open loop to get up to temperature. When its warm...
Interesting. Im assuming your intercooler pump is working so your IATs are fine.. I would clean out your IAC valve. Run some fuel system cleaner through your tank. Then I would look at your factory O2 sensors if those haven't been replaced.
That's my opinion, could be wrong. Was this issue...
I believe the fuel is regulated by the Fuel Rail pressure sensor on driver side fuel rail. And that round metal piece on the fuel supply line is just a damper I believe.
If you have a good tuner, you can also datalog the car to see what it's doing. Are both STFT and LTFT's for both banks close...
If you have a fuel pressure guage, when warm, how long does it take for the fuel pressure to drop?
You can use a mechanic stethoscope to hear your injectors clicking.
What did it for me is capping off my vacuum reservoir. Compare this picture to your setup. If it's the same, you should try...
