Well, two days of wrenching down, taking a day for my wife and I to go to DFW while we're waiting on some parts to show up. (Trans cooler lines were pretty rough.) I have a LOT more respect for engine builders and intake porters after seeing some of the stuff that they have to do for the...
Current builder is nearing completion of my engine! Told me he found some stuff he wasn't happy to see on an engine with the 250 miles I had before it let go. Not saying I got a bad engine build last go around, but there were some things that needed addressing that got looked over.
T-time two...
Well, some minor changes in the build plans. The fox lake heads are no longer happening. Guy that's putting things together for me had like 3 sets of 4 thread heads he fixed in a month and asked if I was offended by switching to a set of 9 threads. Noting there are A LOT of stock port 03+ C...
Seeing this gets me excited to get mine done... I need to get my 2.2 up to Jon Bond and have it fixed...
Also, reading through all of this, I'm glad I've been afforded the luxury of owning the cars I do. Every one of your responses and inside thoughts on these makes me glad for not parting...
any photos? if its the wire I'm thinking of, there should be a plug that runs to the fuse box for a ground.
If needed, I can grab a photo from my wife's 99 to aid you.
Sitting here reading all these comments about shitty jobs.
I'm sitting here going, "man these poor guys would die working on a Duramax."
LML duramaxes are NOT fun to do turbos on. Or EGR bypass valves. I'm having flashbacks typing this...
I'm beside myself at the moment. Been looking for the appropriate 95-98 (yes I said 95, not 94) gel SVT badge for some time now. I FINALLY came across one, not one of those incorrect Daniel Carpenter repros. Getting some bonus stuff with them too! Anyone need a Bullitt badge?
Well, tentatively I have a new engine build lined up for a really good deal.
CNC Fox lake heads, 9.5:1 comp DSS pistons, reuse my block, crank, and rods.
The one kicker.... I gotta drive to Texas to help the guy on his powerstroke. Very well known builder in the modular world with...
Pulled the blower back off the turkey pan for inspection. I'm at a loss on how anything got into this thing.
Rotated the cams through and inspected all seats throughout this thing. All seats are in tact and happy
Best I can determine is it was a cam gear key. Compared damage with a spare key...
Pulled heads off tonight. Looks like I'm starting over... again... may try grabbing a spare block I have and have it cut to the bore of these pistons with 2 replacements.
The damage looks like it was something that was ingested. All my seats are in place. I'm beside myself. I didnt see...
While they are an option, they only sell complete front, or front/rear sets. I had a Bullitt seat that just needed a passenger upper cover and they wouldn't sell an individual part.
