I know at first it just sounds like rod knock, and in the video you can’t really tell where the sound is coming from, but in person it literally sounds like it’s right at the top of the cam cover at the very front of the engine.
My quote for parts included fuel system and pulley. I was aiming for 500-600 wheel. I am saving money at the rods, boss 302 or terminator rods is what I will be going with. That is true also about waiting. I certainly do not want to rush into this, maybe give it till say January to really assess...
I can agree with that. I talked to Todd Warren last night (mod motor guru) on Facebook, he said 12k should be an extremely safe budget for my goals. Was wanting to get more thoughts on the situation though. And I am in West Virginia, zero performance shops anywhere remotely close to me. I am...
My biggest fear is to go all in and end up being screwed via not having enough cash. I got a quote for parts, totaled out to 4500. I called the shop I wanna build the engine but they just told me basically “we really won’t know the labor costs until the job is done. The amount of issues we run...
My Pro charged 97 cobra finally gave way just south of 150k miles. I do not want to give up on this car however working/nursing school prevents me from doing a lot of the work myself. I would like to rebuild the engine, however I have never done anything like this before. I will have no choice...
Gotcha. Probably just go with the suspension, gear, and tire set up I planned on. If I’m knocking on 11’s with that, then I may go up to 10 but will Deff perfect my driving at 8 first. Thanks for the tip!
Correct. You’re not gonna see barley anything from mid pipe alone. I went with a high flow catted x pipe on mine. I replaced the mid pipe because long tubes, x pipe, and bassani cat back sounds amazing on these 4v’s, not because I’m hungry for 5 more ponies. It also only makes sense to do so...
What suspension set up are you going with? Also what weight reduction? I’m shooting for high 11’s in my 97 on procharger making 8psi (401/367). However I’ll be using a drag pack, not street tires
That’s something I didn’t know. Thanks for your help/advice, I’ll just skip the pulley down and do the suspension and tire. Still fairly confident with some practice/weight reduction I can hit high 11’s with 8psi.
