Swapping a truck motor into my mustang since I blew the old one and I’m noticing some differences.
The oil filter location and bracket from my old motor doesn’t fit. For those that’s have done a swap, what are you doing for the oil filter?
I sold my stock longblock so I currently don't have anything to work with. I've seen some decent F-150 engines nearby that are around $2300 for the entire thing, accessories included.
I saved the AC compressor, alternator and a few other things from my old motor before I sold it. Still have my Boss 302 intake that I'll put on the new motor as well.
Would the tuning be any different? Can I just throw an F-150 motor in and run my old tune without any issues?
Looking for a replacement longblock for my 2011 GT. I'm noticing that the F-150 motors are almost 50% of the cost of a Mustang motor. I was told I just need to swap the intake and intake cams and I'll be good to go. Is that statement true?
If I pick up a F-150 motor, what all do I need to do...
Buddy is wanting to buy the long block from my 2011 GT. 85k miles and cylinder 8 crapped the bed last year. Pretty sure the ring is toast. He wants it as a project.
How much is it worth?
Back story: last summer I lost cylinder 8 in my 2011 5.0. Took the car to HPJ performance in St. Louis for an inspection. They told me it needs a new shortblock. I'd like to get the car running, not really looking to go full race with it. Think those days are over. I just want a weekend car...
Slowly advancing on motor removal. Decided to go with a built shortblock. Not sure who I'm going with yet but that's my ultimate plan!
Took the truck out for a lake drive.
Upgraded my daily. Grabbed this 2015 F-150 yesterday morning. Previously had an '04 Ranger. Night and day difference.
Also blew the mustang motor. Cylinder 8 is shot. Needs a new shortblock at the minimum so I'm taking my time rebuilding it.
My old man bought a Porsche Cayenne when I was in high school. He bought it used (1 owner) from the Porsche dealership in town. He owned that thing for 6-7 years before he sold it. We drove it from Illinois to Washington D.C. and back on a vacation, he drove it from Illinois to Idaho and back...
I looked at a few things. Doesn't look all that bad. +1 on your knock sensor near 6500. When the knock sensor goes +1, your air to fuel ratios are only .1 off between banks and fuel trim only has a .03 difference.
Wish my datalogs looked at clean as that.
My local Shell station was having bad fuel. I thought it was good until my logs got reviewed and a friend has having issues too. We swapped to a new station and now all is good!
Glad you got the issue figured out.
I'm currently troubleshooting a similar issue with Lund Racing.
First thing my tuner had me do was go out and buy a can of VP Octanium octane booster. Helps rule out bad gas. If the car still has a lot of knock, then you can start looking elsewhere.
Yea, there's quicker cars out there now but something about a Cobra just demands respect.
I have a few Mustang friends I hangout with often and you still hear people say they'd love to own a Cobra one day. It's still a dream car for some people.
I ordered a Boss 302 Manifold tune from VMP on 4/21/18. Waited a few weeks then on May 10th, I requested and received a refund. I was tired of waiting.
Purchased a tune from Lund Racing on May 10th, received the tune next day May 11th. Purchased a Nitrous tune from Lund a few days later and...
This. I personally use Lund and I feel way more comfortable with the fact they do this on a daily basis. Who knows when your local tuner did a mustang? Could have been awhile.
I am not sure! That was on my list of things to check before work sent me on a 3 week trip out of state. I plan on having some exhaust work done anyways when I return so I'll have them check the system out.
