I started this thread 3 years ago, I don't get on here much anymore but I still have the same car, still running at the same track. I am now on a quest for the 9's.
I had billet oil pump gears and crank sprocket in the old engine. The car launched, hooked then the tires broke loose at about the 60' and slammed the rev limiter, thats what broke the rod.
Well after I sent a rod through the block last year, I ended up building a new short block. I hadn't built an engine in 30 years and had never built a Ford engine but I pulled it and built and put it back in solo in my home garage. The car was running 10.40's at 136 mph before the engine went. I...
Anyone used one of these? Seems like it would really avoid a lot of the typical headaches of the 6R80 swap. Seems like you could buy a used F-150 transmission for $500, this controller for $1200, get a driveshaft and shifter and be in business with a 6R80 swap for pretty cheap.
US Shift Quick 6...
Nice! I was out there last night also. I just installed FIC 1000 injectors and a 75mm pulley. I was having some traction issues but the car trapped 137 mph shifting at 7K. I sent my tuner some data logs and he upped my redline to 8K. I will be back out there tomorrow for test and tune Friday...
I finished my engine a few months ago and got it back in the car. Its running fantastic! I have about 2K miles on it so far. Too hot at the track for me, I will probably be back out there in Oct or so.
I almost did the Gen2 but after talking to my tuner I decided to put good rods and pistons in it. The block will be the weak point now since its not sleeved but it should last a good long time at around 850 rwhp.
I will say this, it doesn't pay to build it yourself anymore. I figured I would...
Yes sir, Gen 1 Coyote blues. 2012 Roush stage 3 with a 79mm pulley making around 680-700 rwhp. I am building a new motor with an MMR forged rotating assembly, ARP everything and a new Gen 1 block from Ford Performance.
I ran a 10.47 @ 136 mph personal best then sent a rod through the side of the block two weeks later. I am currently building a forged short block as soon as the machine shop is done honing and line boring my block.
Very nice! I am planning to get back out there in the next month of so when it cools down a bit. I am currently installing the VMP heat exchanger, VMP ice tank, bumper, VMP elbow and phenolic spacers.
