I realize this post is very old, but life happened and we added another kid to our family so the car got put on the back burner for awhile. I finally have a chance to get back to the car again. I have recently replaced the IAC with a motorcraft one and the car still idles high. Does anyone know...
Well still no luck. I replaced the pcv hose and valve coming off the back of the blower. The only line I didn't replace was the one going to the bottom of the blower. The car did however decide to give me a code. P0507 (Idle Air Control System RPM Higher than Expected). Kind of makes me think...
I did try to clean the MAF. It didn't seem to help. I did use MAF cleaner when I did it as well. I ordered a new pcv set up for it. I can kinda hear a leak on it so I'm hoping its cracked somewhere that I cant see it. Guess we'll see if it works....
I did check the pcv elbow on the back of the blower and it "looks" ok. How do I know if it failed? I think I may here a vacuum leak back there but I cant tell where its coming from (the exhaust is to loud with the high idle).
Does anyone know the part number for the correct pcv elbow
Well I finally got a chance to mess with the car again. I checked the IAC for dents and found none. I checked the IAC for vacuum and there seems to be ALOT there at idle (not sure if that's normal or not, I checked it right at the IAC). I tried pushing on the throttle body to make sure it wasn't...
Also I did check for a jam nut on the idle screw and there doesn't appear to be one there. The screw didn't feel like it was loose by hand or anything though. Is the vmp gt500 style throttle body supposed to have a jam not on the other side of it?
I did check the throttle body and cleaned it when I was looking everything over. I didn't seem to be dirty or anything, but I cleaned it anyways. I also have the single blade gt500 style throttle body on it if it helps anyone to help me. Thanks for the help so far guys!!!
I will try that tomorrow. Unfortunately the car is so loud at start up, that I don't want to tick off my neighbors tonight. Is checking it for a slight vacuum just helping to determine wether or not the iac is bad or not?
Hello everyone. I have an idle issue after taking my car to the track......
I recently took my 03 cobra with a 2.3 tvs to the track and the car ran great the whole time I was there! After doing all that I loaded the car onto the trailer with no issues.....The next day I unloaded the car off of...
I recently went to replace a set of gears in my sra swapped 03 cobra and found that there are chunks missing in the carrier from a previous failure that the old owner repaired. Im assuming a spider gear came apart and a previous owner just replaced the spider gears and left the carrier with...
I also have the factory fuel line and rails, and partial budget return set up from lethal if anyone is interested. Not sure how I'd ship the factory fuel line though.
What kind of sealant are you guys using on your pipe fittings with e85? I got my fuel system all together and primed it and realized the brass fittings I used to plumb on my fuel pressure gauge was leaking. I used a Teflon type sealer on it and I'm guessing it doesn't seal with e85???
I went through fort financial. They got me a loan at 2.9 for 3 yrs. I did have money to put down on my car though. Your best bet would be to save some cash and then get a loan. That' what I did. Just my opinion though.
Finally got a chance to work on the car again tonight. Had to to take the rail back to my friends machine shop and have him take off some more on the rail. Ended up taking .157" out of the rail to get it to fit properly with out interfering with the bypass valve arm. Seems to be ok now. This is...
Not saying anyone is wrong or anything, but I'm just curious, if of the bypass valve is not meant to be adjusted, then why do they oblong the holes in the bracket? I'm just wondering how I will know when its set right now?
Well guys, I ended up taking the rail to a guy I know who owns a machine shop and had him notch a groove in it for me. Hopefully we took enough out to make it clear. I haven't had a chance to test fit it again since the car is at a friends house right now. Im pretty bummed I had to grind a brand...
Thanks for the pic. Notching it is most likely what I'll do. Does anyone know if there is a procedure for adjusting the bypass valve since I had to move it up slightly to clear the top of the fuel rail.
