Thanks! I really appreciate the quick feedback.
On #1, I think the oil should go back out the galley it came in, not through the seals up the piston. But I'm really not sure if this is by design because they were working flawlessly when I took them out. No noise, no wear on guides, etc.
#2 I...
Hi All! Here for a bit of help again..
Tore down the '99 motor and am in the process of rebuilding. I'm though the "hard stuff" inside and have a couple things to verify before I get too far.
1. Timing Chain Tensioners: The 99 has the iron ones, supposedly more robust. With about 70k on them...
Thanks again for the continued support guys.
To answer some questions:
- It's not too terribly hot up here in Illinois at the moment, but I'm driving the car down to Texas in a month! To answer your question I don't think the ambient is appreciably different than times when the car has not...
Wow, thanks for all the responses guys!
I've had the car since 2017 and been on half a dozen drives of 15+ hours, so it likely isn't an old stop-leak buildup.
I remanned the oil cooler this spring and did a full coolant flush (the long/correct way) when I put that back on. Coolant is still...
Hey All,
Hate to make another one of these diagnostic threads since we have so many, but I can't seem to find any past posts that really capture my interesting issue. (If there is, a link would be appreciated.)
Anyways, the Cobra runs great, idles fine, sounds amazing. Heat is hot, air is...
ABS Light just came on after owning the Cobra for a while.
Turns out the PO installed the SRA ABS sensor on the right side of the IRS and the car just "figured it out" after all this time (years) and threw the code.
Anyways, these things have been discontinued for a while and are difficult to...
Wow, thanks for the quick replies guys. I think I like the idea of porting/polishing the intake. I want to keep everything stock-ish, so I'll be staying NA, but that might be the little gain I'm looking for.
As far as tuning goes, we just moved out to IL so all my Atlanta connections are lost...
Hey all,
I picked up this 99 cobra (Crystal white vert w/ 70,000 miles. Very shiny.) a couple years ago and have been working on getting her into great shape ever since.
When I was buying car originally, I came on here and various other forums and it seemed like the consensus was that all the...
My 99 was hit by some debris off a truck and is getting repaired by their insurance.
It seems the sky is the limit for pricing if they can find the bumper to replace it with. If you have one, I'm sure we could work something out with the Ford dealership Body Shop that is currently working on...
When you were towed were the rears on the ground? If so did you disconnect the drive shaft beforehand? That could have hurt the trans.
Could also just be a messed up wheel or hub that only resonates at 4/5th gear speeds.

Yeah, like I said they haven't gotten back to me yet.
I've seen great reviews. Only thing is they are a bit pricey for my budget. I know I know you get what you pay for but still looking into all my options

Hey All,
The request is in the title. Having some rough lifter/follower tapping issues with the '99 Cobra vert and looking for somewhere within 100 miles (that's the AAA+ towing limit) that will do a good, cheaper-than-the-dealer job on her. I'd love to get into it myself but living in an...
Look out for any head ticks, its a notorious issue you'll see on here if you look back and sometimes cause for a rebuild.
Put it in a high gear at a low speed next to a wall (or something to bounce sound off of), open the throttle all the way and listen. Generally if there's any sort of "cover...
Just ordered SEM Landau Black vinyl "Color Coat", SEM vinyl prep, and some cleaning/masking supplies. Will be painting this weekend!
Pics will certainly be posted

I've been all over the internet looking for the best (if any are decent) convertible top dye for the Cobra. The tan top is faded, spotty, and.. well.. tan. So the goal is to get a great factory looking black finish.
I've pretty much narrowed it down to SEM products as a brand, but they have...
The 99 vert came with bolt-on shortys from the factory (not welded in). Not to throw you a dumb question, but have you made sure they're not just bolt on's?
Shouldn't be a problem getting through the welds being careful assuming there's no rust. If you're doing the work yourself I'd make the...
I ended up braking/cutting mine trying to get it out.. was okay because the new one came with all the hardware.
Just squeezed upside down in there with the seat reclined and pushed back. Quite a spectacle it was
Looking to buy or trade for stock Cobra wheels on my 99.
I currently have the stock matte ones with 63k on them in VG condition and would love to trade for the chrome version (online ad for chrome seen above), just for my own appearance interests.
Located: Detroit, MI; New Jersey; Atlanta...
Update: BOUGHT THE COBRA!
Going to put probably $500 into the suspension right away with rear bushings and front ball joints right away. Then time to make the engine look as good as it runs. Anyone have recommendations for where to get misc stock engine parts like hoses, pipes, etc.? How about...
First off, thanks for everyone's input.
Yeah I drove it yesterday. Felt tight, little bit of rotor noise but no ticks or other visible/audible issues at all. Steering was heavier than I'm used to and trans was a bit clunky (not choppy, just jerked me around a bit I assume because I didn't have...
