    AC issues

If you have good pressure and the compressor won't kick in, the next thing to check is the pressure switch. Check the pressure before you do anything though. You can pull the plug on the switch and jump the terminals in the plug with a paper clip or something similar. If the compressor kicks...

    Daily driver suggestions

I agree with the people who mention that you have to silence the "car guy" in you and just get something that makes sense to pile miles on during a commute. I never thought I'd see myself in a Toyota Rav 4 but I was in a similar situation as you in 2016. Went from 12 minute 5 mile commute to...

    1996 Cobra, 79k miles, Iowa

Car has drawn zero interest so it is now off the market and worth more to me to keep. This thread can be closed.

    Misfire on cylinder #3 - P0303 DTC

Glad you got it worked out. I had the exact same problem on mine at the same mileage and it was the spark plug wire.

    97 Cobra for sale 156k miles/motor 80k

I think the market is very weak for these cars. I've had my exceptional mostly stock 79k '96 Cobra on the market since May at $7000 without even a sniff. I see other Cobras on Facebook Marketplace for thousands more that aren't as nice. Maybe I think mine is worth that given the condition but...

    New wheels on the 95

Those wheels look awesome. That thing is going to rock when you drop it a bit. Stance is everything. (says the guy with stock wheels and ride height) ;)

    Causes for steering wheel shake?

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will do some more checking and get some more accurate symptoms. I did rotate the tires and the problem remains. They are stock 99 Cobra wheels. The car doesn't do it all of the time and it is mostly above 30mph that you notice it. The car itself doesn't...

    Causes for steering wheel shake?

I may have to put it up on a lift and check a few things out. It just baffles me how it will be just fine and then all of a sudden decide to shimmy and shake. You don't feel the car shaking, just the steering wheel decides to act like the wheels are out of balance.

    Causes for steering wheel shake?

What other things can cause steering wheel shake? It acts like a wheel is out of balance but the weird thing is that it doesn't happen all of the time. Both wheels are in perfect balance and the front end has been aligned. I thought a rotor may be warped but I changed those out during the...

    replacing or refurbing seats

My 1996 Cobra has saddle leather seats. The driver's seat is in sad shape with cracks and a very worn side bolster that has a hole. The passenger and back seats are in good shape mainly because I have taken care of them and it is usually just me in the car. I have had the car for 16 years and...

    Replacing positive battery cable

It does seem like removing the harness is the way to go. I tried making my way down the conduit but the wires were taped together with 22 year old tape every few inches making it an extreme PITA. I left it alone for the night and I will just go the route you did. That will make it easier to...

What did you do to your Cobra today?

I am just getting mine ready after a winter hibernation. Changing the positive battery cable and fluids before I start her up for the first time. Then I will address any new problems that pop up after the sleep. I'm not expecting anything major but you never know with a 77k mile 22 year old...

    Replacing positive battery cable

I ordered a new positive battery cable from Rock Auto for my 96 Cobra. The original cable had a rounded off terminal years ago so I cut it off and replaced it with a brass terminal. I always had problems with the positive terminal corroding so I decided to replace it all since it would likely...

    Unfortunate SN95 story

So, my car had been in the shop for 7 weeks getting some work done. When I first brought it in, there was another SN95 there that had a problem with the engine knocking so they were sending the reman engine back to the manufacturer for a warranty claim. Through the whole seven weeks the car...

    Source for reman heads?

Does anyone have a source for good reman heads or takeoffs for a 1996 Cobra? Mine are both bad on my car at 75k miles. I guess the guides allowed the valves to ruin them. I am not confident in the places offering remans I have researched online so I just wanted to ask here in case anyone had...

Need help with 1996 Cobra code P0301

This is kind of a long post, but here goes. 6-5-2016 Last fall I had a problem with my 72k mile Cobra stumbling and missing in all gears around 1800-2100 RPM. The IMRCs were functioning fine (and they still are). I changed the fuel filter and had the ignition system tested on a scope by a...
