Does this work with stock steering shaft and longtubes ?

New engine rebuild and motor starts knocking ... The knock is steady and speeds up with RPMS and sometimes disappears for a minute or 2 ... Did compression test and all were 165 . Drained oil and checked oil filter for metal shavings and nothing there aswell . Any ideas?
