Ya, that's the point... some people actually do that... I'm one of those "dipshits" I guess who has a purpose built track car (mustang in my case)
Kinda the point of this thread being an awesome TRACK car
VIR is a power course for sure. I watched my lap next to the Camarillo lap last night, and through turns we were close then it pulled away immensely on straights
Put it on a course like limerock or Palmer where power matters less and I agree, it would be less of a beating.
And at the end of...
Ok just read up in it... $70k+ and 650 hp... I don't feel so bad now! Haha
Have to go back in 2018 to hit that grand course again. It's too bad they only run it once or twice a year or so
For reference, here is my lap at VIR Grand last year. I could benefit from more time on the course (3 sessions...) and I was redline limited on the front straight. Enough excuses, I was thrilled with my lap and it's incredible how much the Camaro smoked it
2.45 is exceptionally fast. I ran that course in 2.57 in my car, on slicks, with aero. Granted, it was my first time there, but 12 seconds is eternity at the track. The tires play a huge role, 1.2 lateral g's is massive grip, so it's nearly running on slicks, but props to them (Chevy and the...
It is very very fun! And thx, I've been doing these for a while now, and I've been instructing for 4 years now as well.
The GTR driver is very good too, we typically run pretty closely when we are on similar tires
I'm on Koni yellows, but they are customized into double adjustable and orificed to support my #550/#280 ft/rr springs. Running -3.2 camber up front, and have various other parts in there
The laos following the GTR were on conti slicks, G5000 I think, 275 square? Then the quick lap was on...
I have a set with great condition Nitto tires. I'm in CT but would ship. It's a pain but manageable. Lmk if you're interested. Tires are Nitto NT555 G2 265/40/19 all around. About 2k miles on the tires, 12k on the wheels
Had some fun at Palmer the other day... I was on my OK tires for these laps, swapped in the next session and ran faster. Best of the day was 1.44.1, I'll post that video in a follow up post for reference
Anyways, always fun with Eric and his GTR. In this clip, he had a (unknown at the time)...
I upgraded to two-piece floating rotors front and rear and I no longer need the rear 13.8" setup.
The brackets were installed for 2 years and worked flawlessly. They do not require the axle to be removed for installation.
One rotor is new, the other has a couple thousand miles on it but is...
I run pretty hot, but if coolant temps climb, I turn on the heat and it helps quite a bit.
Diff cooling is good, and external oil cooler is on my list too but I've had no issues to date and I run the car hard
Regarding the splitter, I designed it to extend about the same as the Laguna Seca one and had it extent aft as far as I could without interfering with the underbody panel that is moved for oil changes
The size was based on an APR wing which had CFD run on it in a free stream simulation
The profile was based off a high lift, low speed aerodynamics research paper (low speed in the aerospace world...)
For angle, I have multiple settings that I can play with based on driving feel
I need to...
