This question in your post equates to a complete rebuild of the engine. Any aftermarket rod will have a difference in how much it weighs both in overall weight, big end weight and wrist pin end weight. This immediately forces you to have to rebalance the crankshaft counterweights to match the...
Shawn called me to inform me that MoTec has the harnesses now and will be shipping my unit today.
If anyone is interested in the MoTec PnP set up right now is a good time to order it, as you shouldn't experience any delays.
MoTec still hasn't shipped the ECU or PnP wiring harness. Shawn feels the problem is the harness which MoTec uses an outside vendor to produce them. He did an engineering schematic of the PnP harness and can build it himself if they can't provide a harness in the next month or so.
I bought these followers years ago when the first engine L & M built expired shortly thereafter. So I'd say it was 10 years ago, maybe longer, so my memory is lacking somewhat when it comes to these. I talked to Jesel about them before I purchased them. I don't remember them having two different...
$352.35 is price gouging on the shipping charges unless it was next day air early morning delivery. The box is oversized due to its length, but it shouldn't have been that expensive even considering that.
Hey J
I actually reached out to Mark about this dyno test they ran between the 4.2 and 4.7 SC. Shawn feels my exhaust system is adding a very large amount of Hp due to less exhaust restrictions. Shawn wanted to know what exhaust modifications were on Mark's car during this testing. ARH LT 2"...
You can run these followers with stock hydraulic lash adjusters without any issues. I've got a set of them in my 5.8 Shelby engine and run stock lash adjusters
I haven't updated this thread in a while. I did make some comments in a few other threads about doing the MoTec PnP ECU with a FlexFuel conversion to allow me to go from pump 93 octane gasoline to E98 racing fuels. This will allow me to run any percentage of ethanol between E10 to E98 without...
Come on now Krammer, don't you believe???? LOL
You needed to look at the right side of the screen and see where the high was 32.4 psi of boost.
I also believe the pulley combination was spinning the supercharger above the maximum speed of 18,000RPM by KB. I think this is why the intake air...
Here is a data log of Shelby running at the Texas Mile if you look closely the temperatures of the intake air are listed twice. The one that is showing extremely high at 462*F is under the supercharger before it passes through the intercooler. The second intake air temperature reading was taken...
I made a mistake in my earlier post. E85 that is a race fuel version has an octane of roughly 105-106. E98 race fuel has an octane rating of 111.5 for VP Racing X98. Pump E 85 usually has a minimum octane rating of of 95.
E85 has a higher octane rating, plus the alcohol has a cooling effect. Ethanol evaporates at 172*F if I remember correctly. The octane rating for 100% ethanol is around 106 if I'm remembering correctly. The downside is if you live in cold climate. The government allows the producers of pump E85...
The issues with building Hp and managing detonation come down to 2 things. Airflow and exhaust restrictions. Why? Heat.
There was a comment about heat soaking the HE and Intercooler system of these cars easily. That is true regardless of any superchargered car. The modifications required to...
To make Hp and have the engine survive you have to work on what restricts air into and exhaust out of the engine first. The reason you do this is to keep the intake air temperatures lower. If the air entering the cylinder is much cooler than normal then the chance to have detonation occur drops...
I don't know if it is knowledge or obsession LOL
Car is currently producing 1070 on pump 93 and 1208 on pump E85. The car isn;t really that bad to drive at these power levels. It is a lot of fun and is easy to manage tire spin believe it or not.
The one thing that I do know that the 4.7L will...
I've been going back and forth on whether to upgrade to a 4.7. What is my reasoning for this? Right now to achieve 2580 CFM of air flow out of the 4.2L it needs to turn 17400RPM at 7500 engine RPM. I'm hoping this nets enough airflow for 1500Hp. This SC RPM requires a 15% overdrive lower with a...
Shawn informed me today about the MoTec PnP systems. MoTec has finally given him a supposed ship date of March 27th for the ECU and wiring harness. The delay has been because the MoTec supplied PnP wiring harness. They haven't had any since the first of the year when Shawn ordered it. MoTec...
Mecum sold a butternut yellow with black interior that had the original engine and drivetrain a few years ago for the exuberant price of 3.4 million dollars. The red car estimated auction price was 3.4 million also. It actually brought $2,585,000 plus buyers fees. My wife was usually with me...
The Shelby is going to possibly appreciate in 40 years, the truck I doubt anyone will care. You have to remember the buyers in the future will be the kids that love the car today. As they grow wealth over their years of life they'll remember what they considered cools cars while growing up and...
