I was told ALL anniversary cars had the 9 thread heads. Again, this is hear-say so no proof. Hopefully OP will chime in with confirmation.
OP, I am from central IL and have a DSG coupe that just rolled 30K, Gen3 2.9 whip, Fore return system, RXT clutch, Kooks LT w/X-pipe, E85 and 93 tunes...
I have a DSG with JUST under 30K on it. Gen3 2.9 standard whip and a long list of mods. Do not need to sell, but I don't drive it lol so may entertain letting it go. I am in central IL, however.
I have a DSG with just under 30K. I am about 3 hrs away in central IL. I do not need to sell, but I do not drive it so I may part with it for the right money. Stock longblock, gen 3 standard inlet 2.9 whipple, Fore return fuel system, RXT McLeod clutch, 26 spline input shaft, full exhaust...
There was a guy on FB that was selling his, had under 40K miles but was fairly well built (big blower, cams, fuel system, clutch, trans upgrades, wheels, and so-on). I believe it was located in Cali too. I can PM you his name if you have any interest. Last I saw he was looking for high 40's...
You could always check for a stock MT82 on car-part.com. That site connects you with all the larger salvage yards. I am sure you can source one there.

Okay, after doing a little research the guy was from Denton, TX and of all states he was holding a MA title lol. Anyway, he admitted in his messages he never titled the car. Was not clear how long he had it, but I remember him saying he had it for well over a year. I wonder if anyone on here...
I say turn him in.... Has any of these potential buyers/barters seen the car's title with their own eyes? Is it a MA title or ??? It may have been mentioned in an earlier post, just curious.
I almost bought a MG vert terminator from TX a few years back. It wasn't until I was ready to send...
Assuming you have seen the post or are aware to stay away from the SB "show car" in Mass?
As mentioned, the FB groups are also a good place to surf or post a wanted thread. Just be prepared to deal with a load of headaches and guys feeling out the market.
Good luck with the search!
I REALLY wanted that car haha, just could not pull the trigger without making the trip out. Steven and I just couldn't make the logistics work out plus he had a local buyer with cash. Bummer....
Well, the guy I was dealing with is a guy named Steven and his location was Dracut, Mass. He did say he sold the car to a local guy, but I have no other info. This discussion took place in Oct of 2020. So who knows haha. It was a beautiful SB ragtop, however.
