Getting ready to yank the motor on my Cobra to rebuild its knocking bottom end. Depending on the cost of the rebuild, there's a pretty good chance I'm dropping a set of cams in.
Right now my combination is stock B heads, a short runner intake with a raised floor, Ford racing shorties, IMRC...
After doing some talking with some friends, i think i'm going to pull my motor and rebuild it.
My last junkyard build ended up with a second motor being rebuilt properly, i don't want any unknowns this time.
If i can just ball hone the cylinders that would be prime, then i could just do a quick...
With 199k on the clock, my cobra started knocking. It's been sitting for over 2 years now and i'm finally ready to get it back on the road.
Im considering getting a MK VIII engine and swapping over all my cobra goodies. I know i will need a new flywheel, but i think that's about it. But i do...
I'm on terminator rack (22-2000) number 3 from A1.
Don't buy anything made by A1 Cardone, its trash.
first rack felt perfect, exactly 0 play and i was so happy, until it started making horrible cracking/popping noises about 3 weeks in.
rack 2 was so lose it was legit dangerous, probably ~20...
That's not at all what you want, and that intakes been around and for sale forever.
that's about half a runner removed, you want 1.5-2" removed with bells welded back on.
i have one made by NASVT.
Its has the floor raised 1.5 or 2 inches and its has the same removed from the runners.
I'm still untuned, but the butt dyno says its wayyyy more fun over 5000rpm.
I regularly bump into the stock 7200rpm limiter now, the power does not fall off like it did before.
I have read about C head swaps in every single N/A build thread, i plan on sticking with B heads for my build, unless someone gives me a intake and heads for free.
Now, the plan is to build a N/A 4.6 B head motor that makes between 360 and 400 WHP and spins to ~8000RPM.
right now as it sits i...
I used Royal Purple HPS for about 2 years, then i switched to amsoil SS.
Both great oils. Then i saw the results of Mobil 1 on multiple engines with high miles and switched to Mobil 1 Extended performance.
just find a good oil and good filter (Mobil 1 filter too) and do 3k-5k changes. don't...
those are my plans as well.
i plan on using boss rods and getting a set of cams with as high of compression as i can get out of flat tops. then boost down the road.
Had a set on my cobra, they were pretty bad in rain and in dry compared to the bald 555's i had on before.
Used my discount tire warranty to get continental Extreme contact DW put on and they are stunningly good.
i have that clutch in my car.
been in for 60k miles, 2 different flywheels, 2 transmissions, and many many high RPM clutch dumps and many power shifts.
its too damn heavy IMO, but people seem so hold up to 500hp with it so i can give it a break.
9/10 will probably try something different...
For almost a year now I have had really bad brake issues. It all started when I left my front passenger caliper unhooked overnight. Once I hooked it back up and bled the brakes I had a stiff spongy pedal. From that point on my brakes have felt awful. I have bled tbem myself with a pressure...
It looks like ford has discontinued the UCA's for our cars. i definitely don't have the money to go with a torque arm setup, so whats the best option with shot UCA's?
Looking into steeda arms or J&M UCA's, they both have 3 piece bushings.
