    Ford's 450HP 7.3L 'Godzilla' V8 | Inside Info & Spy Pics | Where's the Direct Injection?

I think your sources are correct, an aluminum block option has been provided for during the design process. Also, we know that it has PFI but has the design provision for DI as well, meaning that it is possible for Ford to create an aluminum block version that could meet F150 emissions...

    Ford's 450HP 7.3L 'Godzilla' V8 | Inside Info & Spy Pics | Where's the Direct Injection?

"For older trucks and classic muscle (larger rides) these could be an awesome alternative to an LS swap. Time will tell." I agree. Anywhere there is a 390FE or a 429/460 or even a 351M/400, this new 7.3L would be a great upgrade when the aftermarket starts supplying swap parts. Put a Crown...

    Ford's 450HP 7.3L 'Godzilla' V8 | Inside Info & Spy Pics | Where's the Direct Injection?

Brian Wolfe, the prior head of Ford Performance, was involved with the initial concept and development of this 7.3L. To me, that means that everything Ford has learned from the GM LS engines has been allowed for in this 7.3L, meaning it has a lot of potential beyond just a F250 motor. I just...

    Ford's 450HP 7.3L 'Godzilla' V8 | Inside Info & Spy Pics | Where's the Direct Injection?

I have been collecting information on the new 7.3L and I am certain it will be the choice for a lot of engine swaps in years to come. It is very heavy, but compact for 7.3L. (Estimate puts it at nearly 700# fully dressed) It is designed as a torque monster, and it delivers making nearly 400...

    Confused about blower pulley size

Dusten, thank you! I think when I had my 01 lightning tuned for towing, the tuner put that 3.6" Cobra pulley on the blower to lower the boost and make it safer for towing. It made 323HP and 363 ft-lbs with max boost of 8.2# and it was tuned for 91 octane. I used it for towing many times and...

    Confused about blower pulley size

I am confused about the stock size of the Lightning blower pulley. On here it claims it is 2.93" but my blower pulley is nearly 4" in outside diameter and measures 11.31" around the groves, which means a diameter of 3.6". This all came about as I installed another supercharger off a 2002 HD...

    Another Ecoboost Swap.

If you want PATS removed from a 2011-2019 Ecoboost PCM, contact Eric Brooks at 229-646-3996. He will want you to ship him your PCM and he will remove PATS and ship it back. I do not know his current pricing, but I recall others saying that he is very reasonable and fast service.

    Another Ecoboost Swap.

There is a guy in Florida that can turn PATS off if you send him your PCM. I am traveling currently so I do not have his contact info with me but I will post as soon as I return home, which will be some time yet.

    3.5L Ecoboost Retro-Fit

Yes, the Ford Racing harness and PCM kit should work on a 2014 3.5L eco. The documentation with the kit is pretty good.

    RWD 3.0L Ecoboost

So, the new 2020 Explorer is back to being a RWD platform. This means the 3.0L Ecoboost V6 with it's 10-speed auto will be a prime powertrain to transplant to other RWD applications. The ST version of the 3.0L Eco is 400HP and 415ft-lbs and pushes a 4700# explorer to 60mph in 5.5 seconds. The...

    Firewall Pass Through

On 2nd Gen trucks there is a large gourmet in the firewall above the gas pedal, it is where the boost pressure line comes through to connect to the boost gage. I added some holes into this gourmet to bring in the UEGO sensor lines as well as a Battery Ground wire and a Battery Positive wire.

Where should I get a new (rebuilt) 4R100?

Thanks, I wish I would have known about A1 sooner. Never heard of then until your posts. I had to decide and order due to timing of my trucks build. BTS trans should arrive Monday.

Where should I get a new (rebuilt) 4R100?

Well, what I have found is that, well, opinions vary. First, I found that Ford Dealers no longer serv.ice any 4R100s for Lightnings. So no chance to get a new or FoMoCo authorized rebuild via the Ford Dealer. Next, I checked all the normal sources like auto parts stores and local trans...

Where should I get a new (rebuilt) 4R100?

I am finally going to do some updates/improvements to my 162K mile 2001 Lightning. I am going to install a used engine I bought a while back, it has nearly 100K miles but it has Trickflow heads with only 2K miles on them. (This is a good running motor, well maintained, from a buddies HD truck...

Spy Shots—2020 Ford Explorer ST Nearly Bares All

I hope Ford learns from the Edge ST (disappointing acceleration) and makes the Explorer ST a real performer. I have a 2019 Edge ST and it is really a nice package, except that it does not accelerate like I would expect from a ST. I suspect that the boost is being limited in the lower gears as...

    3.5L Ecoboost Retro-Fit

RegularCab, Yeah the big functional issues with the reuse of the factory wiring are always PATS and cluster, followed by what to do for a fuel tank, pump and sender. There is a guy in Florida that can turn PATS off in the PCM. You do not have to use electric steering, but if you want...

    3.5L Ecoboost Retro-Fit

RegularCab, You were so close! My advise, if you really want a 2.7L Ecoboost with 6R80 and 4WD in your regular Cab 2001 F150, would be to go back to Phoenix and make a deal with F100TimeWarp to do the complete install including the electronics to make it run and drive correctly. I have seen...

    Water pumps

OK, My stock 2001 Lightning has 170K and I am in-process of replacing the drive belts, which were last done at 85K miles as were the spark plugs. I am thinking I should change the water pump while I am at it. But, Ford no longer services the water pump and a quick check of other sites and no...
