No not for me. Never was a convertible guy to be honest. My buddy ordered this car 17 months ago and put $1000 down on it. If you want a C8 for MSRP, you're gonna have to wait unfortunately. Finally was built a couple weeks ago and we're in Bowling Green right now to pick it up. She's a beauty for sure. The car is currently on Cam #3. Tune in... you may see Uncle Meat wandering about. Web Cams - National Corvette Museum

Their delivery process has always baffled me.

I watched the cameras for a few. Long enough to see you wave. :)

That was almost painful to watch. I got to see the factory-installed swirl marks put in on delivery vehicle #6, as that lady was trying to scrub the clearcoat off. And then I saw some presumably random strangers get to sit in delivery vehicle #5.

What exactly has baffled you? I opted for the R8C program when I purchased my Vette. The program isn't as cool as it was pre-covid though IMO. You no longer get to follow your personal car down the line as it's being assembled. They no longer hide the personalized PDI info on the bottom of the car. There's also a couple other differences I noted which I thought were a bit tacky. Overall it's a pretty cool option when ordering a new Vette and provides a few things you can't get any other way.

Really? All of the assigned delivery reps are using museum supplied microfiber towels and the museum's own line of polish and wax products. I know the lady who performed my buddies delivery was continuously wiping the fingerprints off of the car as we all walked around it touching it here and there opening the trunk/frunk, doors, etc. You would think employees of a MUSEUM full of cars old & new would know how to properly take care of the finish on them.

As for the strangers getting in the vehicle. They brief you about that at the very beginning when you first arrive there to pick up your car. New owners are told once the museum stanchions get moved exposing your car you need to watch out for this! They told us when the delivery rep performs the acceptance and familiarization process with the owner, there's a darn good chance someone may walk up and try to sit or touch the car. It's the new owners responsibility to keep an eye out for this. The delivery reps are busy moving back and forth between the cars and the office while the owner is often left with the car by themselves.

All of the cars have do not touch signs all around them. This is a museum and you get all sorts of folks coming there to visit. There's always going to be someone who can't follow the rules.

Not baffled in a bad way...baffled as in its neat/crazy they spend so much time and resources on a standard production car.

True, but the new owner is paying for it, $995 for the R8C museum delivery option, and even though the car is built just a few hundred yards from the museum the customer still has to pay the same delivery charge as any other Corvette purchaser ($1395 destination fee for a 2023).

Who did you go through for your purchase? My buddy bought his through Criswell.

I went through MacMulkin in NH. Doing a museum delivery too. That
$995 charge is going up to $1500 for the MY24.

OUCH! I believe it was just under $500 back when I did it. I bought mine from Tommy Jr. too. Great experience! However, when I bought my '09 they couldn't give the cars away because the economy was so bad at the time. The plant was running at just half-speed and new Vette's were plentiful. Needless to say my wait was really short from the time I ordered until my build date.

This is awesome, that has to be one helluva an experience..
If it's your first Corvette and you're going to custom order it you might as well get the R8C option. Especially if you've never visited the museum or factory before.

Can't tell you yet! My buddy offered me the keys (fob?) and I refused. I told him I wasn't interested in driving it until the factory software restrictions are lifted! :ROFLMAO: Once I get behind the wheel and can play around with it I'll report back.
